Surely that’s role reversal, you seem to be attributing that to the wrong group.
Those that were correctly critical of our early system are now the ones being extremely happy that we are now playing the way they wanted.
Those that cannot revel in our upturn of results are those that are looking for conflict with those that called it right, by pretending we are playing no different - when we clearly are.

Time to bed in plan A was the cry. They will get better at short passing was the claim. We just have to put up with it was the demand.
The sensible among us of course replied that time is all well and good for a system that shows to work, like a more direct mixed style. This one (Plan A) has zero potential for the obvious reasons stated.
Time to “perfect” a style is fine, time to get acceptable performances and results - no. They should come along the way if the style is correct.
We realised that plan A wasn’t working and between the management staff or the management staff and players, the style changed exactly to the style we were calling for.
We have been proven correct on that. Much to the annoyance of the obvious gang that usually go against sense. | |

The only people who know what style Martin and his team were aiming for are Martin and his team himself not some people who post on some forum( that's myself and you included).
We both have our thoughts, opinions and views on how we think he was planning the route from start to where we are today but neither of us know what Martin was thinking from day 1.
I am open minded enough to realise the above and realise that you have no foundation to say you are correct... The style is what we saw.
Short passing, reluctance to go long. Playing out of the high press (or trying to at least), turning back possession in the final third with no risks, wing backs as far up as the strikers, no balls over the top, no long diagonals, constant playing around the back in dangerous areas for us, 750 passes a game as we insist on keeping the ball in non attacking or dangerous areas (not dangerous for them anyway) etc etc etc
We said sticking with that style will not work regardless how much time is given.
A correct way of playing may take time to 'perfect', which we are happy to give - but due to it being the correct way to play, it will invariably get results and performances along the way on that journey to perfect it. As we saw with all our previous managers worth their salt.
We called for a change to a mixed passing style, some pragmatism in defence with a willingness to go long, less pointless possession and passing in non threatening areas, long out-balls to the wingbacks.
So while the more dense among us think ''NoThiNG haS ChaNGed BecaUse wE StiLL haVe a LoT oF PoseSSioN'', others can see and demonstrate the obvious change in style. It isn;t even subtle.

Not time and patience with the wrong one, which is why it has now been changed. Long after it should have been, but changed none the less.
Come down on the wrong side of what? What has transpired is exactly what I called for, what we moved away from is exactly what I said we should have moved away from.
Anyone calling for patience for plan A must feel let down because it has been ditched, those that wanted it scrapped have been justified to the fullest.

It seems you and daps have failed to read the post containing Martin’s interview re plan A
To answer daps from earlier this tells what Martin s style was and the focus was to dominate possession
I guess as daps states I’m one of those who questioned bit all this talk of time how long do you persevere with something that isn’t working…..it didn’t after 18 months at MK Dons
The fans weren’t happy as can be seen from their forum yet many of us fans believed it was so much better despite us not getting results or goals.
what Martin has done in his wisdom is make a big tweak and mix up play a little more but yet so many refuse to see it whilst we are still playing football that is pleasing on the eye we have also introduced an element of directness and that doesn’t mean hoofball but using balls over the top and long balls rather than just pass the way to the box which if you read Martin’s interview re Plan A is what he believed in. Recently that has changed and along with it has come success long may it continue. Re Jackonary I would agree there is a lot of it on this forum based on many posters opinions we could spend hours debating that but me I prefer to stick to facts we will not all agree as we have seen and still debate abounds about Grimes showing how fans can watch the same thing but see things totally differently and will still insist they are right even when presented with data proving otherwise
