Warren Farm gets go ahead for QPR on 20:33 - Apr 20 by MedwayR | I was thinking about this earlier & who we'd name the pitches after. There are 11 pitches (3 first team, 8 academy) plus the community hall with an indoor pitch. I decided to pick youth team graduates only and came up with the following: Alan McDonald Ray Jones Ian Gillard Frank Sibley Gerry Francis Clive Allen Peter & Ron Springett (or Peter Hucker) Mike Keen Kevin Gallen Roger & Ian Morgan Gary Waddock Kiyan Prince Community Centre Thoughts? |
Macca Ian Stewart Justin Channing Roger Morgan Gerry Francis Clive Allen Paul Goddard Warren Neill Ian Gillard Kevin Gallen Wayne Fereday

No Tony Hazell, Dave Clement? Youth team graduates with nearly 900 appearances between them.

Those are just favourites of mine over the years. Maybe Warren Neill for Dave Clements but I don't have anyone to drop for Tony Hazell.

I was a proper fan of Justin and can even remember when he won the Barclays young eagle of the month award. I was very upset when his career was derailed, so the rumour at the time went, by a senior pro introducing him to gambling. I don't dislike Tony Hazell I was more of a Ron Hunt fan at the time, still am to some extent.

If it closed midnight Friday and we didn't know Saturday, what makes you think Sunday is going to give us any more information?

Hoos will be riding onto that site, topless, on top of the biggest digger he can find, trailing an American flag, first chance he gets. Staked his reputation on this very early on. The way legal process works (slowly) I don't think it will be as simple as 5pm Friday passed and you get a text notification that you can start work. They have, since the last victory, in the meantime, got the permission to start clearing and levelling the site and they're keen to start that at the first possible opportunity.

Can we then sub-let the land to Tesco for a few million a year, let them build a mahoosive mega-supermarket and really pîss off SWF?

LOL, excellent point sir (or madam)! To be honest, no, I wouldn't, having never seen him play and knowing that he is hardly a legend in the grander scheme of things. RFA

I would keep it simple. Lets say there are 15 pitches - name them after the 15 playerswho played the most games for the club. I appreciate that means that some of the "legends" may not get in, but Lets keep tose for the satnds of the new stadium if that ever happens. From Wkipedia (which I acknowledge is not always accurate) that would be: Name - years - gmes Tony Ingham 1950—1963 555 Ian Gillard 1968—1982 484 Alan McDonald 1981—1997 483 Dave ClementF 1965—1979 476 Archie Mitchell 1907—1921 467 Peter Angell 1953—1965 457 Mike Keen 1959—1969 440 Tony Hazell 1964—1974 415 Kevin Gallen 1992—2000 & 2001—2007 414 Phil Parkes 1970—1979 406 Simon Barker 1988—1998 376 (This one surprised me!) Keith Rutter 1954—1963 369 Arthur Jefferson 1936—1950 368 James Birch 1912—1926 363 Mick Leach 1964—1978 361 Gerry Francis is 16 btw...

That's a shame. Very little chance of them winning on a point of law, I would imagine. Will be interesting to hear estimates of how long this will take, though.
