Chris Wathan just tweeted an article which may be of interest. Apologies if already been posted.

@ChrisWathan: Good analysis of the main figures from Swansea City's accounts by the ever-excellent @SwissRamble https://t.co/igZtpbLC9a

We need to concentrate on the playing side at the moment methinks.
Raise this lot again in May, itmay not be an issue by then. If we go down the whole lot will have to be cut.

If you can fill the unforgiving minute. With sixty seconds' worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

I am not an accountant, but what is the profit or loss over the last ten years?

I wouldn't class Marketing Manager as a low level appointment, would you? In fact I'd say it's a pretty crucial post to get right in modern day football, not one to seemingly gift to an existing employees family member.

If you're asking me to say our commercial department is up to scratch you haven't read any of my previous posts.

Will be around 2.5m per year

That's a nice sum. So then, if we get relegated, for all the money we have spent on infrastucture and development/academy centres, we won't be able too afford too run them!

Looks like I was right about the effect of the changing year end date. Massive blow to londonlisa's poster of the year campaign.

To be fair, I'd be surprised if TV revenue wasn't matched with costs (ie sky revenue for the extra 2 months accounted for then) although I can see the argument for the attendance income not being included. Not sure I'd trust the Ramble on that one. You could be right, but it would be unusual. It is after all just a timing issue; costs and revenues are incurred for the 'season' just wages are paid weekly over the whole year and sky income in lumps.

No striker in the world will score goals with our current playing strategy.

This seeming obsession with one player to save us (I'm not attacking you here) is a bit worrying. If I could buy anything in January, Mr Confidence and Mr Intent would be at the top of my list.

True but confidence and intent may appear with a new coach and striker.

The extra wages and expenses for two months comes to about £14,000,000.
The final Sky TV payment is made at the end of May. No further money is rceceived from Sky until the End of August and is then paid monthly. By far the biggest payment is made in May which includes the money for the final position in the league.

Aye but accounts are done on accruals basis not cash. The payment dates are irrelevant.

The commercial department should be looking at tapping into the lucrative business of.... advertising local curry houses.......there must be £millions to be made.

You don't know how right you are Flash, planning for higher and faster advertising boards around the pitch, as they are they are a pain in the arse, before long we wont be able to see the touchline or Lino's

Anyone with a CSE in Economics fancy giving our Commercial department a go?

Surely couldn't do any worse, than come up with the idea of p1ssing the fans off, when looking at that, the board need the income from the fans to help balance the books.
I know someone is going to give me pelters, but our commercial department is shocking.
Pre-season to the USA.
Having one of Asia's most followed players.
Having one of Ghana's most prestigious players
Being in the most followed league anywhere in the World.
Beating United and really getting noticed by the World's media, on top of all the goodwill given to us by the World's seriously major big player newspapers (no, not the f**king wetty mail/ echo/ swep/ mirror/ sun etc etc)
Being on TV every week there's a game.
Having a major iconic football world known player managing the club (previous to Garry)

I could go on but this could get into a seriously long list

And our commercial department can't capitalize on it????

Sack the fuggin lot and start again.
Club was going rotten on the pitch a few weeks ago.
Looks like it's been rotten off it for several years.

Our board/ shareholders take the divi and have moved to protect their cash cow
Now take the flack and sort things out off the field

I still can't get over the fact that they had the bare faced cheek to say that the trust acquiring a 25% stake isn't in the trusts best interests.

By fans, for fans? What a load of complete horse shît

Isn't it the job of the clubs accountants to make the profit figures look as shabby as possible ?

That way we pay far less in taxes....I would nt read too much into the bottom line there's got to be plenty of cash sloshing about somewhere if we were desperate....probably tied up in assets.

I have not bothered reading it because it is way out of my depth. Let the club accountants deal with it. I also think bad publicity on our finances is good when we come to negotiating transfer deals in January transfer window.

Even when you know, you never know?

The board cant win they get hammered for not splashing the cash.
Norwich signing Naysmith Sunderland Townsend blah blah.
Then they get hammered for not balancing the books.
How much have the club made or lost over the last 10 years.
Until the stadium is expanded we will always struggle to compete.
And without outside help we basically cant afford to expand / own the stadium.

I hope the club accountants are as savvy as those on PS.

Its a shame its all going tits up but the people in charge did at least have a go .

Pity is ,seems nobody there in capable of running a huge business , like Premier League..

Match day income is not what it should be in large part due to a lack of hospitality suites and lack of tickets for one off visitors (who usually spend a fortune in the club shop) which goes back to expansion etc.

We don't have and are unlikely to ever have a sugar daddy bank rolling us, with one of the smallest grounds in the top two tiers it will always be an issue.

There is a lot more to be happy with than concerned about in that report things could be an awful lot worse and I think you will see that next season when a lot of birds will come home to roost for some clubs.

Life is an adventure or nothing at all.

Have you actually been to the Landore or Fairwood developments Perch? worth a visit to see how we have invested in the infrastructure of the club

My parents live near FAIRWOOD.

For that investment we should see results.

Would you agree that if there are none then its not an investment as such.

Our FOCUS is and should always have been this season with the massive money at the end which would see our revenue drmaically increase and we wouldn't be having this dialogue ( a respectful one ) .

PRIORITY IS ALWAYS THE CURRENT TEAM/SQUAD

I think most people would look at what we have invested in with our PL money ( most of which are one off infrastructure costs) and can see that whatever happens we have invested for the future not into the pockets of players and agents.

As for a certain person already righting off academy players before they are even close to first team football, I give up!

Life is an adventure or nothing at all.

Personally I'm glad we're investing in facilities that will benefit the club for the future, but hey ho. Not sure why need to be mutually exclusive
