Time to go 16:53 - Dec 12 with 22263 viewsDubaiR

Worst start in 6 seasons. 1 win in 8. We are not making progress.

Yes sold eze and lost others but also spent 8 million.

No clue today, another turgid performance

There's no reactionary panic at all, most if not all posters are giving reasonable assessments of our Manager.

Out of our last 8 games we've Won 1 Drawn 2 and Lost 6 scoring 8 goals but conceding 14.

You can't expect supporters to just sit there supping tea whilst thinking oh it'll be okay, we'll turn it round before too long.

Were in relegation form no matter which way you put it, no matter which player played well today, no matter which player hit the f ucking post today, no matter whatever, we've lost again.

"You can't expect supporters to just sit there supping tea whilst thinking oh it'll be okay, we'll turn it round before too long."

Funnily enough that was exactly my actions and thinking post match!

Chairs shot an inch to the left and we probably win the game and keep a clean sheet.

Some of the play in the first half was really good, LTC was outstanding in the first half particularly. There are plenty of areas to improve, our crossing this season has been appalling for example but as Bosh has outlined, we are very short on experience and gametime as a team and as units. But all in all I think we should stick rather than twist yet again,

We look good in the middle third of the pitch, just a shame we're so poor at both ends.

I think the “woe betide me” line is getting tired.

Out salary budget isn’t close to bottom 6 this season. MW has now had about 15 months on the training field with this squad. From when he joined to now, we’ve sold Eze, and been able to reinvest (some of that money).

I’ll post a longer piece at some point, but this side will get relegated unless something changes. Seen this coming months off. Today, in the flesh, the body language was worse than I thought.

There is a serious issue in that dressing room and it’s clear MW hasn’t got it within him to correct.

I think both had scored less goals at this stage than Dykes and Chair to be fair though.

Fair enough. There's just something unconvincing about Dykes so far. I just don't see him completing enough passes. Hugil was a good link up man, even if mediocre himself. Nahki could score with just one touch. I'm not sure Dykes can replicate those guys. Cheering him on, but the more i see...he does look like a player who came late to football i'm afraid to say.

Not being snarky Hunter, because I have zero evidence to the contrary, but how are you sure of this (the wage claim)?

Yes, he looks a different player then.

It's probably Eze we're missing. Chair is a good little player but Eze and Bright...that's formidable at this level.

As did Washington for Northern Ireland.

Versatile strikers are a tough find at our level. It's possible his skills don't match the system we play. We're not a fast team, and don't play many through balls for strikers to run onto, which seems to be what he's good at. He doesn't instinctively know where to be as Austin, for example, was able to do. He isn't a back-to-goal hold up merchant like Hugill or Big Smith. Nor does he have the low centre of gravity jinking ability of Nakhi Wells. We're stuck with him though, so a manager has to find a way to make him successful.

We may well get relegated. But after all, we have a team made up (currently) of League 1 standard players who are generally, gradually, improving match by match.

Given a season or two together I am certain this team has the nucleous of being a decent Championship side and that includes our attack.

I would Stick rather than Twist. Whatever happens I would give Warbs a 1 year rolling contract. If by next Christmas the expected improvements are not showing and we are still in 'trouble' , then thats when I would be looking for a change.

We have a very sick patient in our club, ravaged by the Hughes-Rednapp Virus. There is no remedy to recovery other than a 10 year convalescence during which the patient will need a lot of patience from its family...............

Maybe we could turn the tables on him and say if he won't sign a new contract he's not allowed in the dugout? 😅😅

Haven't got a clue what the answer is, none the wiser at all.

Can those calling for his head also state who they'd want to (realistically) replace him with?

We've had 14 managers (not including caretakers) in 14 years since the end of Holloway's first spell. Changing manager every year clearly doesn't work, so why not give it a bit longer this time?

We're on a bad run but we've played better than results suggest, the team is full of academy players and cheap signings and the football is a lot more attractive than it was under most of the previous 14.

I'd only be looking at replacing him if we keep losing for another month or two and fall into the bottom three. That seems unlikely given who's below us. Between the five of them, Forest, Derby, Wednesday, Roterham and Wycombe have won 2 of their last 25 games.

Dykes has received rave reviews and comments for Scotland from seasoned pro's and top managers (Souness, Strachan, Ferguson etc etc) and this is for his all-round play and not just his goals, he is focal point of their attack, and receives early ball from a top class midfield. Washington if making a comparison is very poor for Northern Ireland and cannot getting a starting place in a team without a championship level striker.

Chair and Bright (like Freeman before them - who was a class player in other ways) and unlike Eze, are just incapable of playing a simple early ball.

Chair has the control (like Freeman) but for some reason has to take at least three touches before considering a pass.

Bright has a poor first touch and needs too long to get the ball under control.

Both also play head down - in comparison to Eze who was always chin up, and didnt care if he nudged the ball to a colleague with his knee as long as he kept the attack going.

BO'S in my opinion should be benched as Chair has a better all round game and provides more goal threat, although need to be taken off corners. Something has to change and Adomah has to be given a start to see if he can link up the attack better than Chair and BOS.

Time and time again we've replaced managers and nothing has changed. Maybe it'll be different this time?

The buck stops with Warburton and it's his job to sort it out. But he's not entirely at fault if the players can't stick the ball in the goal.

If you’re the designated penalty taker at any club now you’re guaranteed to score goals in the modern game as penalties are handed out like never before (Man Utd have been awarded 31 since the start of last season.
If Dieng was designated penalty taker he would be one of our top scorers now.

Just looked up Paul Cooks stats. Very good for Wigan and Pompey.

In fact, what he did at Wigan was excellent all things considered.

The remit for the QPR job is very specific at the moment. (And to be fair to Hoos, he has made that clear in proper broken record style.)

The manager is* primarily* here to oversee bringing through successive waves of players to be sold on for a profit, season after season, with a steady supply of Furlongs topped up once ever few years by an Eze. That was the logic behind buying Dykes - not for him to score 30 goals and get us into the Premiership but for MW and the coaches to get him to the level of being sold for £5-10m in 2 seasons time. (This season, you expect the plan is/was for Chair to go for a similar figure.)

The second part of the equation is not to get relegated in the process.

None of which is to say that Warburton is the right man for the job (looking more and more like he isn't for the second part of it at least). But *realistically* any replacement is - and should be - able to do the first bit. That rules out - or should do - most of the usual suspects.

Fair play to the people who come up with lists of potential managers, but I've not seen one who genuinely looks a good fit for the job.

Unfortunately, we're a club on a tightrope. Most steps in any direction are going to lead to us falling off.

I am not sure that "we look good in the middle third of the pitch". Aside from LTC, I think that we have been really poor in central midfield this season. This formation allows the full backs the freedom of their wings and that requires cover from the two defensive midfielders in Warbsball.

More often that not our Centre Backs end up drifting out to cover and leave an overload in the middle. Cameron not mobile enough and Ball (sorry!) very limited.

I have avoided the board this weekend as I am fed up with it all. Didn't see the game, felt the depression when that goal inevitably went in and have absolutely no idea what to do.

Warburton needs to stop saying the same old shite post game and actually do something about our crap record at set pieces. We need to get a couple of meaningful LOANS in to keep us in this bloody division. This does not mean Jack Clarke or anyone like him. Even with BOS gone we do not need any more wide players.

He should try a different formation - we are set for three centre backs, so why not try that? In fact, ANYTHING different is worth a try as this playing well for 20, 30, 40, 80 minutes without scoring isn't working.

I don't actually feel like his job is under threat; I think that everything behind the scenes is on hold until the impact of C-19 is fully understood on all our owners' businesses - Tony Pony must be on borrowed time with his and the others can't be flush right now. I suspect that they see no other choice other than letting Warburton's contract run its course and take time to consider whether there is an alternative out there who will be prepared to work with the poor squad we have ended up with post Eze.

It really is depressing.

Can we go out yet?

The issue is do we stick or twist
Yes the main criteria is to buy cheap and sell big , the issue here is if we go down then players like dickie, dykes , Willock will be off and we will be lucky to see our investment back never mind a profit
I keep hearing the mantra of three worst teams than rangers , at the start of the season you would have said Coventry, Luton, Barnsley, Reading would be in that list , well they are better than us
That leaves sheff wed , Derby, Forest , all of these three will get out of it like Stoke did
That leaves Rotherham, Wycombe us and possibly Millwall & Huddersfield and I don’t fancy this team and this managerial set up to get wins when we need it
We have to imo get someone in to keep us up, going down will be a disaster for us on and off the pitch
Warburton to me seems like he knows he is off , the pre season interview with Clive had me very worried which I commented at the time , I think a change is needed to try and keep this club in the championship

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

And that's exactly what Brentford have done. You will only get top dollar for your assets if you're challenging at the right end of the table - Eze was very much the exception, and one could argue, we could have got £30m for him if we'd had a better season. If we were in the play-off zone now, Bright would be a far more marketable asset. The more we're seeing a successful season as simply being better than three other clubs, the more it will be the case that ambitious players will move on and we won't get the money that we should for them.
