Is the lock down ending too soon? on 19:01 - Oct 1 by A_Fans_Dad | Good luck with getting the op and for the op. And fingers crossed for the test results. My brother has had 2 procedure and a scan in the last few months. For his ops he had to have a COVID test each time, but not the scan. [Post edited 1 Oct 2020 19:08]

Found out today they started doing elective surgery 2 weeks back but in NPT Hospital, not Morriston, they're trying to keep NPT covid free. Unless covid gets in the way I am looking at the first week of November for my op. The nurse checked the file, I was told I needed a new hip in March 2016 but actually got put on the list in September 2016. I have to isolate for 2 weeks and get a test 3 days before I'm due to go in.

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 20:04 - Oct 7 with 2056 views | Boundy | Not complaining but an observation . I was due to have an appointment with an eye specialist at Singleton in April to check if I was developing glaucoma, obviously due to the virus that was cancelled. I put it to the back of my mind t until today so I thought I'd phone up to see what estimated date I could expect to be seen. lo and behold the very nice receptionist said well we do have a cancellation next Tuesday can you attend and yes was the response ,the point I'm trying to make is if I hadn't phoned would I have been offered that appointment and how many others out there are in similar situations waiting patiently for an appointment that may not come.

Now that you mention that, 2 weeks back I emailed the Surgeons secretary and my wife contacted the waiting list office. I'm wondering now if that played a part. I was told today that the October surgery list was full, that;'s why I'm in November yet I ws top of the priority list. It does make you wonder and a good bit of advice is don't be scared to ask, give them a ring!

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 16:22 - Oct 10 with 1782 views | felixstowe_jack | I see the Labour mayors in the northwest are complaining about increased lockdown measures being introduced in their area, but not a word from labour run Welsh assembly about the total lockdown in the whole of Wales. Wonder if this is due to political point scoring. Also note Len Mccluskey has reduced his unions contributions to the labour party. The reason the new leader Keir is moving away from the hard left and is not listening to labour voters. Mccluskey clearly has not learnt the lessons of the general election where labour voters rejected the hard left stance of Corbyn.

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 11:09 - Oct 11 with 1622 views | Catullus | Andy, that's why I agree with you about letting the least at risk get on with their lives but telling the most vulnerable to take further precautions. I still say wear masks and distance where possible, specially if you have a vulnerable person at home. The government should be telling businesses everywhere to give as much leeway as needed so, a fit 25 year old can come into the office, a 50 something with COPD should be enabled to work from home. My wife, because of my status can work from home but next door they are all low risk so they can go to work. It seems easy enough for me, employers will just have to suck it up. While the rest of Europe locks down and suffers, we can get the economy back on track. If the virus changes and starts killing younger people then make a change. We are either going too far or not doing enough and it goes back and fore between them.

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 11:25 - Oct 11 with 1611 views | trampie | Not taken much interest in this Covid thing, probably as it has not affected me much until this having to wear a mask thing started the other week, what I would like to known is what's the difference between the flu and covid ?, why do we not shut the world down for the flu and why do we shut the world down for covid ?

Is the lock down ending too soon? on 13:42 - Oct 11 with 1585 views | trampie | Is the difference between covid and the flu that they think covid could overrun our hospitals and the flu won't ? That is what I thought it was, is that the case ? These medical advisors don't seem to be taking it very seriously, English medical advisor type visiting 'girlfriend', Scottish version visiting her second home, some political guru type went from one part of the country to another, same with an MP very recently, Boris was said to be for herd immunity and caught it, Trump didn't seem worried by it and indifferent to masks and he caught it, the powers that be are shutting down the World and telling people what they can and can't do and what they should and should not do yet those very people in power don't heed their own advice, so no wonder people are asking how bad is this virus and is it worth shutting the world down for ?

There are 3 main differences. 1. Covid is more infectious than flu. 2. Covid is more lethal than common modern flus. 3. There is no vaccine for covid. So it tends to overwhelm the Health Services and infect the front line health workers as well.

Simple points but for some reason many can't/wont see the issue with not adhering to the local/national regulations.
