Show we scrap child benefit ?
at 12:25 24 Jul 2024

We now have a new Tory Government in the shape of NuLabour, will they eventually look to scrap child benefit, under their right wing green logic, less people equals less damage to the Worlds ecology and would be better for the environment.

Friendlies
at 16:16 18 Jul 2024

Not seeing many reports of the football league clubs playing friendlies, Welsh league teams seem to be playing lots, Caernarfon went out to Ireland in preparation for their European comp and beat Cilftonville 2-1 out there.
Bangor City beat Utd FC of Manchester 4-2 and then went over the border to beat City of Liverpool 2-0.
Even TNS women went over the border and drew with Utd FC.
Carmarthen Town drew with the Ferry the other day.
Premier league teams and even football league teams go abroad these days or play behind closed doors (what's that all about), premadonnas afraid of getting turned over, I can remember top division teams coming down and playing Merthyr on a regular basis in the 70s, shame those type of fixtures are gone now.

Anti football lost in the end.

Thankfully England and their anti football lost in the Euros, well played Spain in getting the job done.

Relief and delight that England lost for many in Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Liverpool.

Celtic v Rangers cup final

The Celtic v Rangers final was a poor advert for Scottish football, I was expecting a better game than that, anyway Celtic have now caught Rangers h2h and on trophies won.

Lots of different videos out there on the train, in the station, outside the hotel etc, no doubt a group organised a reception committee for him but Glasgow is like Liverpool left wing cities and the only thing worse than a capitalist right winger is a capitalist righter winger pretending to be a person on the left.
Lots of our leaders have blood on their hands, they are backing a genocide, shame on them.

Villa

Citeh outplayed tonight, can't recall the modern Man City being outplayed like they were tonight in recent years, City missed DeBruyne big time but Villa were very good on the night, apparently Villa are playing Arsenal on the weekend, Villa might be back at the top table mixing it with the big boys if they win that one.

We have got a chance, home to Finland in the semi final and if we get through then home to Poland or Estonia in the final, probably Poland.
Wales can get through those games, fingers crossed.

BBC bias
at 11:01 23 Nov 2023

23, 2023

8 Beeb journalists have gone to Al Jazeera and told them that the Beebs coverage is biased against the Palestinians.
I visited a relation last night and said how awful biased the Beebs coverage with them being pro Israeli and anti Palestinian, I said I look at Al Jazeera news and then the Beeb news, Al Jazeera as any fair minded person would expect headline report of hundreds of deaths overnight mostly children etc, the Beeb headline is still often reporting on this hostage and that hostage that Hamas has taken, as terrible as that is it's different gravy compared to a genocide taking place, they should also be reporting on Western leaders backing this genocide and asking is this the right thing for them to do.
Within 8 hours of me talking about this there is now a news story of Beeb journalists going to a rival organisation and saying the Beeb is biased, it's the right thing for the Beeb journalists involved to try and cleanse themselves as they will be on the wrong side of history, I wonder who the 8 are ?

ā€œThe BBC has failed to accurately tell this story ā€“ through omission and lack of critical engagement with Israelā€™s claims ā€“ and it has therefore failed to help the public engage with and understand the human rights abuses unfolding in Gaza,ā€ the letter reads. ā€œThousands of Palestinians have been killed since October 7. When will the number be high enough for our editorial stance to change?ā€

Feels like 1930s

I wasn't around in the 1930s but a lot has been written about that time period and this feels like it now, poverty, populist, nationalist governments in Europe, USA and across large parts of the World, imperialist powers oppressing people.
Dangerous times.

Surely there is nothing wrong with a Palestinian flag ?, is she real ?, or is this being misreported ?, ok Hamas flag being outlawed (I assume there is such a thing, not that I would know) but we should not ban some state flags and allow others.

Same old England part 2
at 17:18 24 Dec 2022

Original post :- "How have England got such an easy draw on paper yet again in this World Cup ?

Before looking at the draw I thought they won't get past both Brazil and Argentina but it looks likely that Brazil and Argentina are going to be in a different half of the draw and destined to play each other in the semis, so any potential winner from the other half won't have to play the both of them (unless one of Brazil/Argentina don't win their group and perhaps they would be not that good anyway in that scenario).

Brazil might be deemed to be better overhaul than Argentina but possibly not head to head versus Argentina (didn't Argentina beat Brazil in the last Copa America ) so if Argentina get past Brazil in the semis then there is as much chance of an Argentina v England as there is of any other possible finals.

Iran, USA and Wales in the group for one of the 'big teams' in the form of England means they couldn't ask for better draw than that, then the possible easiest last 16 tie for them (possibly Senegal from Africa) then a potential Quarter final against France, France seem to be on the way down they lost 2-0 to Denmark last time out, they have injuries to their top players like Benzema and Pogba then England would have on paper a possible semi final against ageing Belgium.

England couldn't hand pick a better draw if they tried."

OHL and Dr P with the help of Sirjohnalot got the thread shut down, with them going off topic arguing and abusing, but I'm not allowing OHL and Dr P to spoil a topic of mine.
So back on track, England failed even with a good draw, falling at the first major hurdle they faced, it was a great opportunity for them (not for the first time, they nearly always get good draws, but they blew it).
