Yeah I don't wear gloves often either. When it's really cold my gloves will go on long before my shoes though as my hands don't get the benefit of friction with the ground while walking. |

What about when you're gardening or batting? |
I'm neither much of a gardener nor a cricketer, but as a musician I depend very much on the use of my fingers. So hypothetically I'd never go into bat without gloves. For gardening I'd probably start without and then consider wearing them if I could see serious difficulty ahead. Certainly wouldn't worry about shoes though. I don't worry about broken glass so I really don't worry about thorns either.
Once I wiped my feet on a plant to get mud off before going to someone's house. Turned out it was a stinging nettle. Wasn't really bothered by it. A bit itchy, not too painful. If I touch it with my hands though I'd probably be in discomfort for the normal amount of time, since the skin on my hands is the same as the skin on most people's feet. | | | |

I do charity walks for cancer barefoot. I have one coming up soon in fact. It'd take a lot to get me to wear shoes for charity - most people wouldn't get what's so special about wearing shoes for a day, just as I find it a joke that people go without them for a day for charity, to help shoe companies push their shoes onto people in other countries who don't need them. | | | |
