Southampton In Negotiations With Club For Manager Release
According to media sources, Saints are in ongoing talks with the club of their top target to replace Russell Martin, but will this please the Southampton supporters who are desperate for a high profile appointment.
footballleagueworld.co.uk are claiming that Southampton are in contact with Sheffield Wednesday and are continuing negotiations regarding his release clause.
They state their source is German journalist Florian Plettenburg who posts on X as Plettigoal.
He had this to say
"Danny #Röhl is one of the leading candidates at Southampton to replace the recently dismissed Russell Martin ✔️
"Concrete talks with #SaintsFC are ongoing, but no formal negotiations have taken place yet.
"35y/o Röhl is currently under contract with Sheffield Wednesday, where he is performing exceptionally well. Recently, he was also a candidate for Leicester City to replace Steve Cooper."
The issue seems to be the amount of compensation paid to the Yorkshire club, Rohl signed and extension to his contract back in May and although at the time the actual term was not confirmed, it is believed to run to the summer of 2027.
