Phil Sumbler, Planet Swans, Bans, disliking posters 11:01 - Jan 10 with 38622 views_

I've not been around for a little while enjoying Christmas and the new year but been checking in from time to time.

I understand you have banned two Planet Swans legends and why?

I've noticed your over reactions time and time again of late and I think you forget you are the Trust Chairman when you react so. You have repeatedly banned Spratty also and it's all too pathetic.

Don't cross swords with these guys if you can't take it Phil. I've read your comebacks to them and me and sitting in front of the buttons doesn't give you carte blanche to decide who stays or not.

This site would be nothing without its characters and for every person thatgets on your tits there's others that enjoy what they have to say.

You clearly can't take any heat and that worries me in your position especially with big decisions about to be made.

There are posters you let run havoc on here that are universally hated, even by your close friends and associates and there are many a good poster that has left because of them. We've all got the option to ban by simply pressing ignore as you keep instructing posters to do....that is until you lock horns with them, they make you look silly and you ban them.

Grow up, grow a set and don't post if you can't take a little flak. If you allow the likes of Darran, Jackfath and Dick free roam on here you should be man enough to allow Shaky and Parlay.

I look out for these guys posts along with selected others and they make the place worth visiting.

It's petty and childish and you should be above that in your important position, don't forget that.

I hope Shaky's ban isn't a long one. I've enjoyed a lot of his thread contributions. Anybody who pores over the volumes of Butler's Lives of The Saints in 2015 isn't your average Joe.

You can never have too many shades of opinion on a forum.

'Shaky' accurately describes his technical expertise and it's his constant needy obsession to pretend he is a superior financial wizard that I find tiresome so stopped bothering. He should come back as 'wobbly' or, better, 'flimsy'.

Could have been a good poster, if he wasn't a delusional psychobot. Other opinions are of course available, not least his own.

The attacks on Lisa are a bit strange. All she does in my eyes is fight her corner with logic and passion without pretending she knows something she doesn't or changing the argument to suit herself.

Just my view. I'm in the St Pierre every Sunday morning. I guarantee never to fight you no matter how beastly you are to me on the internet.

Lisa's a woman who's not afraid to stand up for herself and what she thinks. A lot of men find that threatening which is why she's often on the end of misogyny-driven insults on here. Lisa and I have disagreed in the past but I thought she was spot on with her view on the Evans thing. I'd imagine if she'd posted the same view under the name "LondonLee" or "LondonColin" she'd get a different reaction from some.

I doubt he knows. None of us are involved anymore.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I thought he posted in it...

My views on Ched for a start is I don't think he should ever have been charged, as simple as that. I don't want to start a debate on it again but it seemed like a mad night out for all concerned, nobody was hurt and nobody should have their lives ruined because of it, both the girl who didn't press charges or Ched. I've also heard about Modou and again, that's not something I want to get into.

We should all move on is my opinion, but not be hypocrites while doing so.

Not read the whole thread yet so it may well have been mentioned already but I'm pretty sure Phil would always advocate the use of the ignore button and in the same breath would berate anyone who used it as a weakness as it was ''only a messageboard''.Seems strange and contradictory he goes to the extreme lengths of banning certain posters after those words.

I've no idea. I thought it was the right decision though. To pick apart a young Swans player's previous crime to prove some point on the internet was out of order in my view.

I'm not about to speak for Phil here but it may well be that he got to a point yesterday where he'd had a titfull of it. I think that to call his fitness to be Chairman of the Trust into question because some people disagree with the way he runs a privately-owned forum that he's operated for well over a decade is bang out of order. In my opinion. Other opinions are of course available.

I'm afraid Phil is a prominent figure within the confines of Swansea City Football Club, not just because of his role as Trust Chairman but also as site owner, and very much a public site at that where all supporters are encouraged to participate, not just Swans fans.

He doesn't need to get embroiled in argument or be forced to make petty decisions and he certainly should never have any dealings with the likes of Darran, never mind placing him in a position of any kind of authority.

I have a lot of time for Phil and his work at the Trust, I like the guy a lot but this forum can bring out the best and worst in us. Healthy arguments should be constructive but sometimes when you're in a certain position you have to rise above some of the crap no matter how much you want to get stuck in.

And I haven't read all your posts in the Ched thread but past crimes should be in the past, like you said. I take it you believe Ched should be allowed to find a club and soon do you?

I'll leave Phil address your comments about him if he wants to do so. Suffice to say I don't agree with you when you called into question his fitness to be Chairman of the Trust.

On Evans, this will probably kick the whole thing off again but seeing as you asked. I said on one of the myriad of Evans thread that he has the right to return to work. I also said I can fully understand why clubs may be reluctant to employ him and why sponsors or figures associated with any club would be keen to disassociate themselves from the Club and/or Evans. I certainly wouldn't want him anywhere near Swansea City.

The comparison with Barrow is invalid as I said on the removed thread. Barrow committed a crime, admitted his guilt, sorted things out with his victim (who was also and still is his girlfriend), rehabilitated himself and moved on. Evans has done none of these things and has at least tacitly allowed his supporters to smear and hound his victim. I find the whole movement to try and somehow claim that a rape victim is responsible for the crime disturbing.

I haven't read what was said but surely it can't be worse than what has been said in the past by certain posters to other certain posters on here and nothings been done about it? Question the site owner about his position as Chairman of the Trust and instead of putting you on ignore, something he often advises others to do and he decides to ban you rather than follow his own advice.

That's the bit I don't get.

Would you be happy for Ched to play for our club, if his conviction stood? He's obviously not good enough for where we are now, but should we have been in league 1, would you? Would you be happy to support and cheer him when he was on that field wearing our white jersey?

I wouldn't, far from happy. Maybe my view on the case is lopsided due to having two teenage daughters. I'd go as far as to say, as long as he were at our club, i wouldn't set foot in there again.

And for the record, i have not read any details on the case, i'm going purely on his guilty conviction.

I ve been lucky as Im certain my daughter wouldn't have put herself in the position of the victim in this sorry episode.

This is where I am on Evans and Barrow too. Totally different contexts. Maybe in 2017 when he has really 'served his time' if he rehabilitates himself by admitting his guilt and publically promoting the rights of women and making sure that his victim is allowed to live her life, then yes. But still not at my club, because anything he does now is clearly done to manipulate opinion in his favour and not in good faith. As someone else said, that train has already left the station.

If his conviction was overturned then he should be allowed back straight away, but still not at my club, as it doesn't vindicate his behaviour since being released.

Why don't we just have a poll, kill it, and move on. No one's going to change their views are they?

I agree it's a tricky one but pretty much only because of the ridiculous fuss that's been made about it.

The word "rape" is so emotive and sinister and dark and I don't think the events of that night were anything of the kind. Oh to be a fly on the wall we'd all have a very clear opinion then.

I don't think peoples lives should be ruined because of it though.

But what if you knew categorically you were innocent Mon?

What if the girl was wide awake and willing? Just what if? How could you be sure she wouldn't remember anything the following day and all this crazy affair was to unfold?

Is that a bad judgement or something really sinister? Have you never been on a crazy night out before? What if your whole life changed because of something where you know in your heart of hearts you did nothing wrong?

We hear enough about women's rights and them being the fairer sex etc etc etc, but we are all human beings regardless of sex and we are both capable of making bad judgements.
