I've not been around for a little while enjoying Christmas and the new year but been checking in from time to time.
I understand you have banned two Planet Swans legends and why?
I've noticed your over reactions time and time again of late and I think you forget you are the Trust Chairman when you react so. You have repeatedly banned Spratty also and it's all too pathetic.
Don't cross swords with these guys if you can't take it Phil. I've read your comebacks to them and me and sitting in front of the buttons doesn't give you carte blanche to decide who stays or not.
This site would be nothing without its characters and for every person thatgets on your tits there's others that enjoy what they have to say.
You clearly can't take any heat and that worries me in your position especially with big decisions about to be made.
There are posters you let run havoc on here that are universally hated, even by your close friends and associates and there are many a good poster that has left because of them. We've all got the option to ban by simply pressing ignore as you keep instructing posters to do....that is until you lock horns with them, they make you look silly and you ban them.
Grow up, grow a set and don't post if you can't take a little flak. If you allow the likes of Darran, Jackfath and Dick free roam on here you should be man enough to allow Shaky and Parlay.
I look out for these guys posts along with selected others and they make the place worth visiting.
It's petty and childish and you should be above that in your important position, don't forget that.

I don't think anyone should be banned to be honest, or to allow themselves to get into an online conker fight (I have failed at that one sometimes, fair play). Everyone knows I thought Parlay and especially Shaky to internet sociopath bots of the highest order, so I generally chose not to engage. Who cares if parlay says 'parlay wins' when he visibly to all is losing...it doesn't matter....to react to that sort of nonsense would be as laughable as saying it.
I guess what I am saying is that freedom of speech includes freedom not to speak, and that many would benefit from doing just that in my view. In this thread for starters. Of course the other person will bite back ad infinitum otherwise and we have the usual sh1tfest.

I am completely in their corner in terms of the debate and the resultant bans. They, in my opinion, were spot on in what they were saying, why should they change their minds and accept someones opinion they don't agree with when nobody is doing that with their opinion?

I realise you want to think otherwise; difficult to prove it.
When younger was more anti-Israel than anything. Read more around the subject, determined my own opinions. More I looked at things like Jenin, the more I realied those proclaiming to expose the truth the media refused to were more than capable of being duped themselves.

Wow, reading this thread really shows that it is fashionable to be offended!
Look while I read a lot of the threads by Parlay, shaky and the others that have been mentioned I tend not to get too ingrained and annoyed by what they say when they do try and get a rise out of other posters, maybe they don't try on purpose but the inevitable happens and people rise to it. It does make things interesting. Some people though do need to take a look at themselves though and step away from it just a touch.
T2C while I agree with some of his views, others are too extreme but hey, this is a forum...live with it. And as Llargerub has already mentioned a few on here have twisted what t2c said to suit their own agenda.....freedom of speech is what he was referring to.
If Parlay was banned for what was mentioned previously on here then thats weak....if it was for something else i dont know about then well it none of my business. |  |

That's a fair point but the way it came across to me was that it was they that couldn't accept another point of view. It was like a frenzy in the end with endless passages demanding responses and rather distastefully at times. I dipped in and out on numerous occasions and got chased about for using smileys, quite absurd and the reason I continued to use them of course - I'm sure that much is obvious.
I didn't really engage on the 'did he,didn't' aspect of it all as I have chosen to accept the court's decision, as I will if it changes on appeal but it is quite clear that the debating qualities some claim to extol as their own are non existent, and on such a serious topic it was as crass as it gets. |  |

I m afraid I really dont know the facts that led up to the ban,it would be nice if they were made clear the reason for the ban.
If it was general arguing and being a pain then no one deserves a ban for that. If it was for saying something REALLY outlandish or offensive on such a sensitive subject such as rape well then yes...provided adequate warning was given before the ban took place and the offending poster had a chance to change tack or apologise. | |

I agree with the concept of political correctness but not when it is used and abused solely to back up someone's point of view, and a point of view that would change frequently on here depending on who was making the opposing point.

Shaky was banned for replying in kind to Phil insulting him (for no apparent reason either) and Parlay was banned for making Phil look rather stupid later on, over a spellcheck Phil tried to attribute to Parlay when indeed the part he was referencing - was a direct quote from Phil, so it was his error not Parlays... and that was it for Parlay.

Well if that is the case (I dont really know whats gone on behind the scenes)
then it seems a bit daft.
This site NEEDS good quality posters and opinions from right across the spectrum in order for it to work...without a difference of opinion and people being allowed to express their views freely the site would be absolute crap.
What would be the interest of reading and engaging in debate here if we all agreed on the same thing all the time? I would be bored witless
People should learn to argue their own POV in a proper manner..if someone like Parlay wont give in then fine just walk away...at the end of the day who cares? It s not as if you re in a pub in front of people you know it s just the internet.
