Southampton Have Danish International Midfielder On Their Radar

There are still two months before the opening of the January transfer window, but already the rumour mill is starting to turn and Saints along with a host of other clubs including Aston Villa and Manchester United are said to have watched a certain player at the weekend.

The mid season silly season is two months away but it seems the agents are already starting work as the72.co.uk claim that Brondby's Danish international midfielder Nicolai Vallys is in big demand ahead of the January transfer window,

They say that Southampton had him watched in Brodby's game against Nordsjælland in the Danish top flight on Sunday.

Vallys who made his international debut for Denmark in August sscored the winner in his sides 2-1 win and reports in Scandinavia have suggested that Saints were not alone in their spying mission, Aston Villa, Manchester United, Marseille, PSV, Real Betis, and Wolfsburg also had their scouts out to watch the player.

Vally's seems to be somewhat of a late developer, he turned 27 in September and up till two years ago had spent just one season in the Danish top flight, had had joined Superliga club Silkeborg in 2019/20 but they suffered relegation in his first season there.

They bounced back at the first attempt and he then enjoyed a further season with the club prompting Brondby to pay around 3 million euros for him early in 2022/23 season.

Able to play either as a central attacking midfielder or a winger he has been a regular since joining Brondby and is contracted to the club until 2026.

I would suggest that someone somewhere, possibly the players agent is drumming up interest early in his man, the likes Manchester United & PSV would not be looking at a 27 year old with his track record, they have been thrown in to make it look like he is in demand, Villa might be taking a look, but it seems that it is Southampton whom the agent is targeting.

Although we are in the Championship we would be seen as a club who would want to boost their promotion hopes in January and also have a track record of signing players who are under the radar.

transfermarkt.com have his value at around the same value as Brondby paid a year ago.
