Ronald Koeman Early Favourite For Saints Job

Feyenoord coach Ronald Koeman is the bookies favourite to replace Mauricio Pochettino at St Mary's

If Saints are looking for a high profile coach to placate those members of the supporter base that are going into meltdown tonight then they could do far worse than appoint bookies favourite Ronald Koeman.

The Dutchman is leading the first odds tables compiled by the bookies, whether they have an insider knowledge or not is unclear, but Koeman is on offer at 5/1 with some offering as low as 4/1.

Koeman has coached at some of the biggest clubs in Europe including the big 3 in Holland of Ajax, Feynoord & PSV, although he has had mixed fortunes at all of them he has still got 3 Dutch Eridivisie titles to his name with two at Ajax and one at PSV.

He has been at Feyenoord for three years although he has failed to add any silverwear to their illustrious history, he could therefore be ripe for a crack at the Premier league after a coaching career that as head honcho has so far spanned 14 years.

His pedigree would perhaps placate Saints supporters wanting someone with not only experience but a reputation in football as well, given the situation at St Mary's at present the board might go for the likes of Koeman rather than going for an unknown like Yakin which would lead to accusations of cost cutting, also Koeman would be a bigger name to help hang on to the star names and could be construed as indication that Katharina Liebherr and her board mean business.
