Chris Ramsey two year deal? on 10:44 - May 6 by HollowayRanger

i like the bloke but lets be honest does anyone think he is the answer to all our woes and problems that will only be 10 fold next season

whoever takes over will have to build a team fit for at least the playoffs from scratch

to me will need someone with experience who knows what it takes to get promoted not a novice who might be good but could be another gary waddock

Play offs !!!

With the amount of rebuilding needed I think if we finished comfortably mid table it should be seen as a success.

The fans are going to have to be very patient as it could take years to sort the mess out but going by some of the comments already I can see people wanting whoever is in charge out by November if we're not top 6

The trouble is ,and I'm not having a pop, you're going to get his choice of players and if him and they f*ck up you've got another shedload of numpties to shift the next season.

That is true but at least his choices won't be expensive ones I feel.

Is this potentially good news or bad news?? We don't know. I just hope that whoever is appointed manager next season, he can keep us up in the Championship. Can't hope for more than sheer survival next season.

Good post mate. We are building for the future now. Survive next year with a new squad.
Consolidate and maybe challenge for play offs the year after and serious challenge for promotion the year after that...
Patience ..Patience..

What worries me with this modern scenario - the chairman,DOF and manager get into a huddle and discuss/agree new signings - is there isn't enough experience to decide matters.I would like to see an experienced old head in the mix somewhere.

Chris Ramsey two year deal? on 11:02 - May 6 with 2086 views1BobbyHazell

Not my choice but we've got to give him a chance to build a team. Personally I think he's on a bit of a hiding to nothing, having to rebuild the squad/team with what I assume will be far less funds than previously available. If we're not in the top 6 playing decent football come November, a lot of people will be getting on his back. Whoever comes in next needs 2/3 years minimum to build something.

Maybe he'll show us that he was just playing this style of football because of who he had left over from Redknapp's meticulous Squad Planning. But if his signing is aligned with new deals for the likes of Bobby and Karl 'Thatcher' Henry I'm going to put my face in a big bowl of soup and leave it there.

If Ramsey gets this two year Gig (and it is only paper talk) that after supporting the club for over 50 years is me done. Problem is I can see it happening - he is very tight with Sir Les and he is currently pulling the strings at Loftus Road.

We need to re-build a squad/team for a tough season in the Championship and I just do not think Ramsey has enough about him to attract the kind of players we will require.

It won't happen but I just hope we get something sorted as soon as the season ends and start the hard work immediately. No excuse this year of play- offs, World Cups etc. I would even hope we already have plans in place but I very much doubt it. Sort out who is staying, who is going and get a good collective pre-season tour sorted. Anyone who is on the going list - no pre season jolly for them - stay at home.

Hughes (experienced manager) put a team together... failed.
'Arry (experienced manager) put a team together... failed.
Why should this time be any different?

It seems to me we need a philosophy/style of play before we appoint another manager. Who is going to define that? Certainly not Tone. Sir Les? Or do we recruit a manager that brings a style that suits us?

I think the club needs to decide on a philosophy and then appoint a manager to suit that philosophy

I would of thought the club will have have been working on a philosophy with the appointment of Ramsey in mind

Poor tactics, poor team selection, no desire to go all out and win must win games.

Sorry Chris, nice guy I am sure but not the "dream manager" for me. Saying that, if he did get the job I would still support him, not the worse option we have been linked with.

Chris Ramsey two year deal? on 11:32 - May 6 with 1940 viewsfrancisbowles

The priority for next season is deciding if Charlie is leaving or staying. If he stays then we are pretty much stuck with banging it up to a 'Zamora' type target man as Austin has only really been effective with this type of player next to him. If he does leave then there is an opportunity to decide how we want to play before we sign new players.

As for CR, I am happy for him to start implementing the future plan that he and Les have supposedly been working on. I can see that he may need a older experienced assistant manager.
Perhaps Bondy, for all we really know, is that man. If not then perhaps we could prise Gerry Francis away from Pullis or what's that terribly nice chap doing these days?

Chris Ramsey two year deal? on 09:13 - May 6 by PinnerPaul

I beg to differ, I don't think many of you have learned anything from last 4 years.

Calls for yet another new manager and a shed load of new players.

And guess what - if we're not in the top 6 come November, you'll be back on here asking for exactly the same thing allover again.

I realise there are many players out of contract and 2 or 3 are likely to be sold but can't we give Ramsey a chance at least to build a decent Championship side and see where that takes us?

I'm not convinced the "dream" manager that guarantees success is out there, even less so a dream owner.

PS

Little news article interested me today - Bournemouth's accounts for LAST season( 13/14) show a large loss and FC has substantial debt, provided from their Russian owner - if loss & debt repeated this season they are likely to currently have a debt approaching £40M - maybe success not ALL down to the genius that is Eddie Howe after all!

Whatever way you look at it we are going to need about 11 players in Pinner
we have those out of contract, those who are on loan and those who will be sold ie Austn, Fer Caulker

the only manager im calling for is a young dynamic manager , who is tactically sound, a man who plays good football, see us a step up who can build a club, I know it will take 2 years or so before we even think about top 6 , but you telling me Ramsey would be better than a Robinson,Warburton, McNamara,or even a Cotterill .

why should Ramsey be given the chance, he has had plenty to show what he can do
and smashing the long ball to Zamora or playing Henry left wing in games we have to win is not showing me anything, the games against Liverpool, Hull, West Ham, Everton , Palace were fcuking dreadful our concentration levels at the back are even worse than under Arry , how many last 5 minute goals have we conceded under nice guy chris??
if he was the great coach as most of this board seem to think he is why did spurs let him leave , and why hasn't he been snapped up already by a club to manage , the bloke is in his fifties so its not like he is new to the game

the only reason we will go for him is the cheap option , with Ramsey in charge we will plummet and he will become a Terry Connor , Neil Adams , Glen Roeder ,
and we will have wasted 6-7 months and another pre season

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

I see this as a positive article. Ramsey was dealt a real Beadle of a hand once Harry* threw his toys out of the pram and flounced off. He has made mistakes at times (SWP for the last ten mins or, indeed, at all?), however, their effects would have been negligible if the first half of our season hadn't been so catastrophically mis-managed. We only have to look back at West Ham or Man Utd away to see how Ramsey has changed things. Harry's magical tombola of selection is a thing of the past and if we want evidence of some form of nascent tactical nous, just compare the recent set up against Chelsea with our insipid and humiliating performance earlier in the season.

He gets it wrong but is confident enough to change things with positive substitutions - Timmy got the fright of his life in the second half vs Villa and they were lucky to get a point. We went 3-5-2 vs Liverpool away and got straight back into the game thanks to Leroy after realising that Liverpool had got us sussed playing 4-4-1-1. Harry's subs were terrible: bare bones, my arse. Change the system.

I think that Ramsey is being given his shot for a number of reasons. The article alludes to a longer term plan and I think that Ramsey (probably along with Sir Les) has already identified the areas for change, development and replacement. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find that, between them, they already have a potential squad list and targets in place with a definitve spending plan and tactical reasoning for each. Unlike Harry coming in (or Hughes for that matter) Ramsey won't be firefighting and trying to save a season: he will be looking to build from scratch with almost no pressure. Look, no-one expects him to succeed immediately so he gets a free pass! That's got to be a good thing, at least for next season. If he can show progress and a few signs that the plan is being implemented then he'll do alright.

I don't like being relegated either - just seeing the faces of the plastic C****** fans around here drives me mental - but I can't find it within me to be angry at Ramsey. I want to see what he can do with his own team and a new philosophy.

* BTW - is anyone else sick of hearing from him regarding Bournemouth? He has had nothing to do with their success and all you hear is him saying how fentastic they were and jockeying for a DoF position. What a cnt.

This might upset a few old romantics on here but I hope Bournemouth are stupid enough to
appoint him in some job ,maybe DOF but i'd LOVE it just LOVE it if they gave him the managers job. Then I'd delight in watching him suck the life out of them and relegate them
having ditched their exciting youngsters for the likes of Kranjcar and Rio Ferdinand.
I'm tiring of the old 'H' is just a symptom of the QPR disease ' line. Using Hughes' comparative
success at Stoke as proof. Do me a favour 'H' is a kunt of the highest order and should never
be let off the hook like that..
Please Bournemouth ,appoint the shytehawk so Rangers are not his last victims.

When Redknapp was in charge the main argument for him gone seemed to be he didn't coach enough and he didn't give youth a chance. This fella ticks both those boxes but now we've moved the goal posts again and want something else. An Experienced man who can put a team together quickly, basically a Harry Redknapp clone

Not Ramsay, please. Warburton is a proven good manager, is local, no compensation to play and has created an exciting team in Brentford with experience at many levels. What's not to like? Fernandes has gone from one extreme to another!

Well why not....?
I don't see anyone else out there who has openly and repeatedly stated that they want to manage our basket case of a club....
Who ever comes in will have to start from sscratch and although we will probably end up being Spurs reserves, at least we'll have some youth and passion in the squad. We've repeatedly tried and failed with the "Buy a star name" ideology. Lets try something different.
Give the bloke a chance FFS. We're not going to play great football next year for the simple reason the Championship football is s**t football. Even when we got promoted, some of the games were atrocious. it was only Adel that made it attractive.
I'm happy to give Ramsey a full season as long as we see some sort of genuine improvement in our team and play...even if it means relegation.
Just my opinion :)

The big man thing is a myth too - he was up front alone for the vast majority of last season.

Who is the right man for now? On Paper Hughes and Redknapp were the right men for the job that needed doing, one building a club the other a quick fix, both of them failed. Now you could look at Robinson, Warburton, Ainsworth and several others who have done well elsewhere but would they do it here.

Personally I'd interview Ramsey and several other candidates and then make a decision but wouldn't rule Ramsey out, I don;t think we've been awful since he took over, far from it.
