These bring back memories. My mum religiously collected them. 20 books of stamps got you a dustpan and brush! I can still recall sticking them into the books and the sugary taste of the stamps. Yum!

Hey Ted, Were you in the Rifle Brigade or Kings Royal Rifle Corps.

Rifle Brigade mate, trained at Winchester then Celle in West Germany (BAOR) for a few Years including other places in Europe but mainly in West Germany.
Mostly good memories apart from some time in 1968 when the Russian and Warsaw pact armies entered Czechoslovakia to quell the uprising and the whole of NATO was put on alert including us. It really was a dodgy time what with Vietnam going on and all that, It was a near thing, one minute we were in our barracks next thing we're out on the German plains digging in.
I cant remember the Czech Presidents name for the life of me.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Winchester, I think the barracks were called Trenchard Barracks I cant remember for sure, almost right opposite Winchester prison.

We've just built a £36 million academy at Tidworth so I'm back there on and off with work quite a bit so It's a memory jog for me, most of the old barracks have gone but its still a huge army gaff.
I know every bloody inch of Salisbury Plains, I should do I dug what must have been a thousand trenches in the goddam place.
