I see the point of anonymity in sex cases - though its worth remembering that it doesn't apply in any other crime - but its not as straightforward as some of you seem to think. |

He'll definitely get bail if charged. From QPR perspective the difficulty is that they now have someone who they cannot sell until the trial is complete (assuming he is charged). This means Remy will be a QPR player on our books for quite a while yet. The big dilemma will be whether to play him whilst awaiting a trial. My guess is that if he's on form they will. |  |

And anybody that has been paying even a small amount of attention over the years will realise this is in a LONG LINE of incidents, some of them isolated, that are also associated with QPR. To guns in the boardroom to bust ups with olympic teams to Faurlin-gate to murdered players etc etc.
Nobody is saying QPR has any accountability to what the players do in their personal lives, but to say there will not be negative association is just naive. It is being reported on Sky Sports News, why? Because he plays for a football team. This could all be rubbish, and I hope it is. But when a picture of a player, in a QPR shirt is plastered across the news with 'Rape' headline, it brings about further negative press to the club and the wider game generally. |  |

I agree but I'm also a realist. If Remy is awaiting trial and turns out for us next season, no matter what our views are now if he scores then we are all going to be on our feet cheering. It may not be right, and it may not effect how we feel when we sit and ponder, but it is a fact. When the ball hits the back of the net, it doesn't matter who put it there or how it got there. That anyone would imply that going somewhere that men are is an invitation for rape, is unbelievable. For gawd's sake. Is the implication that rape is somewhere in the back of every bloke's DNA or something? Is the implicaiton that whenever you get 2 or more men together women should live in fear? I can tell you that as a young 'un I was drunk lots of times with a bunch of blokes and never felt the need to be affraid of rape. Yes. But I guarantee the women who didn't 'cry rape' (a pretty disgusting phrase as it is) but were raped, but were too afraid to come forward because of the hell they go through in court only to find that overwhelming majority of cases are lost, substantially outweigh those where the woman is genuinely lying. Of course, I'm really sorry for that guy whose life was ruined - don't get me wrong - that is tragic.

There is a lot of talk here about people being found innocent. This is not how the law works. The prosecution have to prove guilt "beyond reasonable doubt". Although I grant that there may be some women who falsely accuse others of raping them, they are deterred from going to the police or court as successful prosecutions are rare in this country (perhaps as some of the jury think "what did she expect!!!!!!")
I know from a good friend who worked with BBC slime ball that was always bothering women (working on kids TV) and was well known for forcing himself upon them. He got off when it came to court, but his girlfriend who stood by him, buggered off as soon as the trial was over. Not sure Clive likes names being mentioned, so wont, but sure there are many who know who I mean. Although not well put I believe Hayesender to have an objective point within his post.
This case and more so that of the Brighton players highlights the dangers of alcohol and casual relationships for both men and women. Nobody should ever be in fear of rape but it is sensible to avoid an intimate evening with people you hardly know. An old fashioned attitude this might be but I pray to God that it is one adopted by my kids. |  | | |

Forgive me if I have misunderstood but are you suggesting in rape cases the burden of proof for the prosecution should be less than in other cases.

He shouldn't play for us until the investigation is over. If he's charged he should be suspended without pay. If he's found guilty he should be sacked immediately. If he's found innocent he should receive his back pay and the suspension should end.
Please, please, please let's not fall into the fcking Liverpool and Chelsea trap of standing by our man and hiding behind 'innocent until proven guilty' simply because he's a good footballer and a sellable asset.
