Cabango and Darling. There is no money. Try logic. 19:37 - Sep 27 with 4339 viewsReslovenSwan1

Coleman has a problem. Both Cabango and Darling and Cullen want to stay but there is not enough money around the new cost conscious club.

It appears to me all can stay until the end of the season but there could be bids in The January.

It makes sense to sell one and pay the other two what they want or let Cabango and Cullen walk at the end of the season and pay Darling.

A tricky one for the chairman. I stand to be corrected but both Cullen and Cabango will bring in development fees for the club whereas Darling would not.

If all three cannot be kept happy financially perhaps then it would be better to keep Darling happy and let the local lads walk.

On the other hand Darling would most likely draw a fee in The January to pay the pay rises of the other two. I confess I do not know what the s development fees would be. Swansea has to pay for Key.

Chelase and Man City have been forced to sell the family silver local lads in preference to transfered in players as they are logged as total profit in accountancy terms. A similar outcome for a different model perhaps. ,(Cole Palmer and Connor Gallagher sold way too cheap)

Can’t see Darling bringing in more than a million. Any interested clubs will make some arrangements with him for the summer and get him for nothing bar a huge signing on fee. As it stands I still trust the club to secure them and Liam. The latter probably next summer. Just a guess. If there is a choice the club will sell Darling and give Cabango a better deal.

All three are unhappy with their deals. One has stated I’m not getting my pants pulled down by this lot. And I stand by it, because he told me.

So the potential is….at this moment in time…to lose all three for nothing, then have to find replacements which will cost I don’t know how much.
Sounds like us I have to say.

Maybe, just maybe the owners are holding out for a sale or more external investment so someone else has to fund the cost of running a Championship club. Fingers crossed there’s someone out there …

No club in their right mind would let Cabango and Darling leave.

If the Swans do it will be borderline football treachery. And of course destroy the season again.
We have so many examples of shooting ourselves in the foot since relegation, it’s almost as if they want failure at times.

Levien would if he could get a couple of million in for both, its how he works as you know, he's arguably weakened the squad season by season, Coleman it seems would like to see the team progress, but he's trying to do so with one hand tied behind his back.

The club has to balance the books and cannot keep all three happy. To balance the books one goes and two stay or two go and one stays.

All three could go at the end of the season with development fees for Cabango and Cullen. This would pay for Darling perhaps.? £1m for Darling pays for £10k each for Cullen and Cabango for only one season. £2m for Darling gives Cullen and Cabango new 2 year deals at £10k a week if the club believe they are saleable assets.

Fans blame the owners but t hey cannot keep losing money like at present. There is no sympathy for them because they are rich foreigners. In my mind there are better players than Cullen for £10k a week and Vipotnik should be better when up to speed. At one time Cullen was preferred over Gyorkeres by Cooper.

Let Cullen and Cabango go in the summer and give the development money to Darling.

It is sad but Man City with different rules had to let Cole Palmer or Phil Foden go last summer. They are siting on a £50m loss already. It is not easy.

It is too easy to blame the club .

So the plan was to bring in another 2 before the deadline shut, this would have been in and around 10-16k a week extra.
As weak as we are, I would now rather they use that money to go towards new contracts for Cabango and Darling........its not ideal but contracts for these 2 are the main priority at the moment.

If you know as much as you claim in this post then the development fee line just put the whole post in the bin for me.

All over 24, so nothing there.

I have some knowledge on the solidarity mechanism, if the player is transferred before the end of his contract, but I’m not challenging myself with that now. Also, I’m uncertain if that just applies to a player under 24.

Either way this has been terribly managed.

Awfully managed by the club considering they said there would be more planning. I can understand one player out of contract come the summer but 2 main centre halves is an absolute mess.

We surely have scope to get atleast one tied down to a longer contract. I think its a no brainier if we have to tie down 2 out of 3........thanks Liam 👍

Once they reach the last 6 months of their contracts they can talk to other clubs, we could lose all 3 for next to nothing if we persist with this.

If we try to sell one in January clubs may not come in because they know they can sign a pre-contract around then (maybe a few weeks later) and get the player for a pittance.

Taken from this, https://level.law/news/determining-the-level-of-compensation-for-out-of-contract

Under both the Premier League’s and the English Football League’s (EFL's) Rules and Regulations, a club signing an out-of-contract player under the age of 24 is (subject to the former’s club’s compliance with certain requirements) obliged to pay compensation to the former club for its training and development of the player.

It’s important to stress at the outset that compensation is not due in lieu of the transfer fee that would be payable if the player were under contract. The compensation is of an entirely different nature and the player’s perceived ‘market value’ and transfer fee comparables are irrelevant. Instead, the compensation is payable solely to compensate the former club for its training and development of the player, the rationale being that clubs should be rewarded for bringing through talent and incentivised to continue doing so.

The compensation fee payable by the new club is such sum as is agreed between the two clubs or, in default of agreement, “such sum as the Professional Football Compensation Committee on the application of either Club shall determine.” The PFCC considers nine factors – eight under Regulation 3 of the PFCC’s Regulations plus, under Regulation 4, the costs incurred by both clubs in the training and development of players. It is important that a club makes detailed submissions to the PFCC regarding each of those factors.

Cabango is 24, Cullen is 25 so there is no development fee. We'd lose all three of them for nothing.
Far better for LW to pick the one, or possbly 2 (goodbye Liam) he wants to keep the most and offer him an acceptable deal than lose all 3 for nothing.

Can’t see Liam being on their radar, they know he won’t go anywhere, and even if they double his money he would still be well in the bottom half of wages in the EFL championship. And as we reported, nowhere near the top ten in league one.

It is a forum for discussion. The development fee rules are there to a be assessed and it seems that sadly Cullen and Cabango are too old by a year.

If no other club considers them worth buying them why should Swansea worry about losing them? They have no transfer value one year deal or three year deal. Cullen is not worth the wages he wants unless he improves. Both he and Cabango need to find clubs willing to pay them more than is on offer. Let them walk and replace.

There are plenty of players of this quality available in the summer. You have contributed a few times to this thread so it did not go in the bin did it wise guy? . Show some respect.

Remember there are readers on here 100s of them that are not on top of all FA rules or the ages of the players which required s research.. I thought Cabango was younger than 24.

I am not sure about this players can talk to new clubs in January rule? It seems pretty irrelevant to me.

Swansea signed Manning on a low fee when he has 6 month left (around £300k). He did not want to hang around London. Lowe came on loan to Swansea running down his deal at AFCB. Some would argue Lowe and Manning are much better players than Cullen and Cabango.

It's not that no club will want to buy them, it's very much that they can get them for zero, zilch, nada and as such will not offer a fee in January when they can negotiate wages with them directly thus saving millions.

There is definitely ONE reader on here who didn't know about the age rule.

I have mentioned to you before that doing some research before posting can prevent unfortunate gaffe's!

Edit...you say the 6 month rule is irrelevant then go on to prove why it's very relevant. It's relevant to this thread because it shows why we will be hardly likely to get any bids in January which, in turn, shows your idea to sell two to pay for the third is a non starter.

If no one considers buying them, we are then going to lose them for free if they don't sign a contract.
It will cost us as much or more to replace.

As it stands, we have no senior centre half under contract past the summer...........that is not only a massive job off the pitch but a far bigger one to sort on the pitch.

We were left short in the transfer window, we are now being left short in a very important position due to lack of thrust within the boardroom. If as you suggest that we can get 2 out of 3 on new contracts then your post really heighten the lack of panning of the decision makers.......i do question the 2 out of 3 suggestion though.

Club has made better strides the last few months but the grand reality is that they are still a million miles from being a well planned unit.

The post outlined that the club simply cannot keep all three happy and it is not bad planning but the economics of football.

Cullen wants money I suspect that no one else will pay and he could be heading to unemployment or Newport County . He will be professional util the end of the season where he can investigate his options with a reasonable offer on the table. He may have to compromise.

The club can then try to sell Cabango or Darling and pay one or the other with fee obtained. £1m for Darling for example will give Cabango wages for 3 seasons.

Lissah must step up and a new players signed to partner Cabango or Darling. It is sad as all are of the right profile. Darling should have had an extra years option. That was Winter not Coleman.

It is not ideal but not a disaster either.

On top of this lack of people supporting the club and turning their backs on it

If the club don't offer improved contracts to Cabango, Cullen and Darling before Christmas all will walk at the end of the season and sign for other clubs with improved terms, they will not agree to a transfer. You may not like it but that is a fact, their agents already have better offers on the table, the clock is ticking.

The guys in charge certainly have a lot to answer for.....football economics is just an excuse for poor planning. .

January will need to see big movement and will certainly highlight the club's planning especially of our 2 main centre halves have not signed a new contract......it could certainly create an headache if we are in a good position in the league or God forbid in a bad one. Just like the lack of squad strength, I would suspect the club are prepared to take the route of 'let's see how it goes' instead of getting things in place and cementing their words of having plans moving forward.
