Genuine question but do you think a crowd would have spurred 'Dale on to play better today?

I'm of the opinion that you can't polish a turd.

The crowd might have helped inject a bit of urgency to our game.......sadly missing as we piss about and can't find a team mate. (yes Mr McNulty, "big boot" forward)

Then again, most of the crowd might have sodded off at 3-0 HT?

Just a reminder spending money is no guarantee of success and if it goes wrong the outcome can be very bad.
I was concerned today might go like this we really do seem to struggle against teams that have lost a few games.

The season should finish now there will be no fair results without fans support! There are too many freakish results without fans in attendance Liverpool got 7 at Crystal Palace today it as become a farce.

And Liverpool let in 7 at Villa with no Villa fans present...

good strike but think the keeper was either unsighted or made a mistake. Only a consolation, rather he'd saved it for the next game!!

O'Connell & Roberts back to CH partnership for me

So we've managed to drop a couple of places to 18th without any of the teams below us kicking a football

In fact, a couple of those teams aren't playing at all due to Covid. Just as well

It’s a possibility Covid could start having a real impact on the fixture list now and not just the odd team. With the rumoured restrictions to travel bans from the south east, their may be an increase in testing on players before they are allowed to go to different areas for games. A case of wait for the details of course, but you could see sides with multiple games in hand come February/March.

On today, can’t believe we didn’t change things at 1-0. Like it or not, that’s on the manager. We can discuss the squad depth and the restrictions he works under until midnight, but BBM will/should know that the problem was easy to identify early on and he failed to do so.

Tbf I don't think Jim has played badly and he's been better than Bola. It's been the team that hasn't performed. Whether it's been the tactics or the implementation of them that's been the downfall.

Today was always going to be a struggle with the lack of height and bite in midfield. With Lund missing we really could have done with Beesley back.

Think BBM was a bit unfair on Brierley today putting him in as a like for like replacement for Ryan. Formation probably should have changed to bolster the midfield numbers.

BBM will probably point to injuries and a suspension, but the naivety tactically and by far too many players was embarrassing today. This is now a boardroom issue as the parsimony of the Summer has caught up with the club. Hard times indeed but the likes of Accy and Crewe for example recruited far better with results that suggest better quality management as well. One win in 13 at home in all competitions can't be acceptable, even more so given some of the rank bad performances within those 13. Can't base the season on a couple of surprise (and very welcome) away wins.

Had a Covid test this morning which I have to say was more pleasurable than watching the game today. At least the test was only unpleasant for 30 seconds!!

Surely that depends on your result. At least our pain was over after 90 minutes.

Jeepers we missed Rathbone, Lund, Beesley and Ryan today. Couldn't cope. Second best everywhere. How long does Jim, Dooley and Done have left on contracts? I fear we can't do anything until they move on. And McLaughlin is a player we can't afford given his injury history.

Did not expect anything today when I saw the midfield. When Morley and Dooley are your options as midfield enforcer you ain’t going to boss the midfield. Absolutely agree that it puts the ball in the boards court. BBM is proving a decent pair of hand when recruiting but the board must allow him to add a couple of players to the squad, plus a swop out for Bola.
Also think that the Bradley will not make it a league level. If I remember 4 or 5 development players were given contracts a couple of seasons ago, which I said at the time would stretch us. We are still seeing the effects now. Get some out on loan and get some men in January.
Not sure I want an injury update or not right now. Stay well Mr Lund.

It was Brierley and today wouldn’t be a good day to assess him whatsoever. Let down by the choices made to include him in that role and then further when changes weren’t made. From what we’ve seen previously, he seems a very competent, forward thinking midfielder.

McLaughlin has played under 6 different medical teams now and no one has managed to sort his "injury " issues now. He either doesn't have the biomechanics to cope with professional sport and that should have been identified early or there are psychology iissues nvolved. Shocking decision to offer him a contract no matter how cheap that option was

I'm perhaps looking at it too literally, but I had us down to finish 24th a the start of the season, so if we happen to pick up enough of those surprise and welcome away wins to keep us out of the bottom four come the end of the season, I'll be happy.

I also have no criticism for the board for putting the club's future ahead of transfer dealings. If anything, I was surprised we actually spent as much as we did this summer, when's the last time we paid transfer fees for two players in one window? Has that ever happened before?

None of that is an excuse for today though. As others have said, tactically naivety was our downfall and you still feel that the the opposition team possess a target man who is capable of scoring goals, then they will be a nightmare for our defence to deal with. How is that still the case? I swear I've been saying that since even before BBM's time in charge.

Roberts has been our best player this season - playing him out of position at left-back is a really damning indictment on the likes of Done and Bola who have played there this season. I'd maybe understand it if it was a case of bringing McShane in to play at centre-back, but to bring in McNulty? Who is a liability in at least 50% of the games he plays? Christ. Can only hope Bola is sent back and Done is somehow offloaded to free up some wages.

Overall picture is still better than I expected it to be when the season started but we can't keep losing games without so much as laying a glove on our opponent - it's embarrassing.

Tangled up in blue.

On Radio Manchester commentary Calvin Andrew rates Dooley highly says he is good at going forward perhaps he is lacking confidence or being stifled by poor tactics?

I rated him too last season in a few games. But something is missing. He couldn't cope today. He is experienced and needed to help the kids.

Anyway it could be worse - we could be in Tier 4.
