Horrendous scenes in Las Vegas. The videos make me feel sick, the amount of rounds being fired there is going to be a serious amount of casualties I think.

We go to Lidl, buy our packet of dead animal that led a short, unnatural and likely unpleasant life which somone has killed and processed for us.
If find SCs approach rather more honest and ethical than ours to be honest.

Sometimes the unnatural life is better. Take the humble chicken. In the wild it would face being ripped apart by foxes, run over by cars or picked up by one of those birds of prey who carry small dogs away.
The farm looks after the chicken from cradle to grave. It provides a shelter from the wind and rain, free vetinary care, the chicken can be together in solidarity with hundreds of hundreds of other chickens, none of whom are superior to the others, they are all equals. The farm also provides them with chicken feed, as a reward for an honest day's toil laying eggs for 14 hours, the sale of which funds the shelter and the free vetinary care.
It's only when the eggs stop coming the chicken is pulled unceremoniously from its coop to have his head removed, an onion shoved up the anus of his twitching corpse and placed on perches plate for Sunday dinner. But he goes to the grave safe in the knowledge he's contributed to the good of the farm.
The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

In answer to the first question I don't know apart from the machismo thing of owning a semi-automatic weapon, 'hey I have an AK-47, so I can act like Rambo!!! ' As for the second point where I live hunting is a big sport here, you often hear gunfire and you think what is that and then you realize it is someone hunting, at the moment here it is Dove hunting season. Whether it is right or wrong these are the facts here.

Millions of Americans enjoy hunting, it is also a way of controlling the wildlife population, locally we have a big deer problem and the deer hunting season culls the deer population. In essence I would prefer 'Hank' put put a couple of bullets into 'Foxy Woxy' or 'Bambi' than him put a bullet into my head!
