Horrendous scenes in Las Vegas. The videos make me feel sick, the amount of rounds being fired there is going to be a serious amount of casualties I think.
Terrible world we now live in.

Review of the gun...
Mario Dipelli — March 24, 2016:
M60 is a very nice machine gun, the only thing that can survive it is the thing that’s behind a 10 foot stone wall or even better, not in your range when you are with this baby in your arms. The gun is very smooth and steady, I think a child can shoot it with effortless ease. It shoots like 10 rounds a second and it feels like a Sunday morning when the bullets are making a beam in your target, slicing it in half or blowing it to shreds. Shell casings are literally raining on the floor under your feet. I would definitely go back to MGV just to shoot this spectacular piece of hell fire any time soon. The best thing that happened in vegas was shooting this gun.
That review is so depressing, how do these people think?

There is a worrying tone to that review isn't there, a real fetish for guns.
Having said that, I don't see the problem with gun ranges. If people want to pay large sums of money to shoot handguns, automatic rifles, assault rifles, etc in a controlled environment, then fair enough. Must admit, I'd be tempted to try it myself sometime just to see what the reality of firing a gun is actually like. Probably makes me a hypocrite, so be it.
What's scary is the thought of being in a place where it's legal for someone walking past me to have one of these highly lethal weapons hidden under a coat, ready to use at a moments notice to kill large numbers of people.
You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help.

I pose a controversial question, Perchie. Does the ordinary American give a sh1t?
I suggest not. the chances of actually getting caught up in an incident oneself is probably miniscule. It's like us choosing to drive a car despite 3,500 of us getting killed every year in road accidents. You never think it's going to happen to you.
Been listening to a local radio station here in Maine for an hour this morning and there hasn't been a mention of it. So there may be some truth in that.
Maybe that's just that particular station and I'd like to think most Americans would be shocked and appalled.
It won't change anything. The thought of not having guns is an alien concept to some out here (it's seems quite polarised though - there are many liberal types who are against gun ownership and mock the gun totting stereotype). Besides, deer season starts in less than a month. There's always something to kill.

For a few 10s of dollars you can buy a shooter starter pack for 7 year olds in Walmart. I think they're only air rifles, but it makes the step up to semi-automatics so much easier.
Bonkers.

Less than £200 for one of these that seems very cheap.
These guns are to rent for $250 on a supervised shooting range, not to buy as these guns are illegal to own privately in the US unless you pass some very strict laws in that or any state. The Americans can own some crazy guns, but belt feed machine guns are not one of them.
Wasn't trying to bite your head off, I just thought it was a given that automatic weapons are illegal everywhere in the USA. I know Nevada is one of the most relaxed states, but I can't imagine that was a legally owned weapon.
In any case, I'd be all for serious improvements to our gun laws, like I've said before. Will never happen though.

I realised that nothing will ever change after Sandy Hook. If the execution of children results in no change, then today's tragic events certainly won't.
I look forward to Dav posting later telling us that it is people that kill people, not guns.

Absolutely horrific, I cannot express words to convey what I'm thinking. Thoughts go out to fellow American Jack's, who are either involved in or who know anyone caught up in this tragic event. RIP. J2J

It's a typo, it was meant to be the right to own bear arms.
Ever since my son was... never conceived, because I've never had consensual sex without money involved... I've always kind of looked at you as... a thing, that I could live next to... in accordance with state laws.
'Gun Violence Archive, a website that tracks incidents and crimes involving guns across the United States, said Sunday night's attack was the 273rd mass shooting in the country this year.
It defines a "mass shooting" as four or more people being shot at the same time or location.'
Wow
