Eze. on 09:58 - Aug 4 with 3104 views | dannyblue | Flimsy, I'll concede. But better to have bigger spenders mentioned, and a better place for him to end up if it ever came to anything.
Eze. on 10:09 - Aug 4 with 3028 views | NW5Hoop | There's no point comparing him with Bellingham, or anyone else, because that's not how the transfer market works. You can't say to Palace, 'Well look at how much Dortmund paid for Bellingham,' because they will simply say, 'We're not Dortmund and we're not buying Bellingham.' Players aren't worth anything other than what someone is willing to pay for them. It's a market, and you can't dictate a price unless the buyer is desperate and the seller is very much not desperate. At this point, QPR are still the more desperate: our finances are improving, but not yet in perfect shape, and we need a few more decent fees to get us prepared for another season of losing money. We're still a distance away from Brentford's position of sustainability, The constant berating of the club for not getting value for players gets on my nerves. Same as messageboard posters think they're better coaches than the people the club employs, they also think they're better negotiators. Right, course we all are.
Eze. on 10:27 - Aug 4 with 2927 views | QPR_John | "The constant berating of the club for not getting value for players gets on my nerves." I think we must question why this club never gets a decent transfer fee. We cannot generate enough income from the clubs day to day activities. We cannot get money from the owners because of FFP. So the only way forward is to buy low and sell high. If we continually miss out on selling high where do we go.
Eze. on 10:42 - Aug 4 with 2870 views | rsonist | Best to look at it like a Swiss Tony situation. We're on the dancefloor with a whole can of Lynx on and too much gel in. And it's a Tuesday.

Eze. on 10:52 - Aug 4 with 2818 views | daveB | is that true though that we don't get good fees. I thought we got pretty good fees for Smithies, Chery, Freeman and Furlong even Luongo we got decent money for. None of them have done much since leaving, even Furlong has been out of the West brom side for a lot of the season. For me it's more about how we spend what money comes in rather than how much of it we have

Eze. on 10:57 - Aug 4 with 2793 views | NW5Hoop | We're selling for what we can get. It's not like Hoos is thinking, 'I could probably get another £4m, but I'd rather pop out to the White Horse for a swift one at lunchtime.' We get the transfer fees people are willing to pay us. We can't make people pay more.

Eze. on 11:54 - Aug 4 with 2562 views | Antti_Heinola | i just put the car analogy in to make a point. A clutch of PL clubs are (allegedly) interested (we only know for sure (relatively) about West Ham and Palace). You simply will not get those clubs paying the sort of fees Top 6 clubs can/will pay. Key drivers are price, quality desirability - but also how rich the buyer is, however unrealistic the car analogy is. The Wells example isn't irrelevant, it's absolutely relevant to what clubs in the lower half of the Prem will do - I'm not talking about us, I'm talking about buyers. They have money, but they have points past which they'll look elsewhere. I do agree we have prime conditions, I do agree we should get a hefty fee. I'm just not convinced it'll be £20m and I'm not convinced we should expect £20m or even that even £12m wold be a failure.

Eze. on 12:10 - Aug 4 with 2493 views | Rangersw12 | Out of interest who do you think we should have got higher fee's for ?
Eze. on 12:30 - Aug 4 with 2429 views | CiderwithRsie | We already know why we don't get "decent" fees (i.e. what some fan on social media thinks other clubs should pay, based on some transaction between two completely different clubs for a different player) 1. Fans are unrealistic anyway and think all our good players are the best in the Championship. 2. Historically we've been desperate. We've needed to sell to pay for essentials when buying clubs have not been buying to get the essentials but because they they want to improve. If the price is too high they can stick with what they've got if necessary and have other places they can buy from anyway. Until Eze our players haven't been good enough for there to be a bunch of buyers bidding against each other. And too often we have had to hang on to players (because we can't afford to replace them) until they are almost out of contract. It's the unwillingness to admit any of this that gets on people's nerves. It's like asking why Paladini had to pay higher rates of interest than Briatore or why we had to pay higher wages to get Premier League players to sign for us than e.g. Arsenal did. Markets reward the strong and punish the weak because its easier to negotiate from a strong position than a weak one. We know we have been structurally weak pretty much forever except arguably in the Briatore (spit) years yet people persist in thinking that if only the club were smarter market forces would evaporate.
Eze. on 13:06 - Aug 4 with 2317 views | Match82 | Sshhhhh. He said ARSENAL ARE INTERESTED. Are you listening Palace (and anyone else). Arsenal. You'd better up your price. PSG interested too is a rumor that I just heard (from myself)
Eze. on 14:30 - Aug 4 with 2159 views | EastR | I think any potential move (and ultimately the transfer fee) will be impacted by what happens with some other PL players likely to move in this transfer window, notably Zaha and Willian. Its all conjecture at this stage, but it is interesting to see Arsenal being mentioned in the mix as potentially both of those players could be of interest to them too. I see a figure of £30m being bandied about this morning as a ‘cut price’ fee for Zaha. As a player with a bit of a chequered history, now in his late twenties, and with very little room for further development I’d say that makes him much less of a proposition than Eze for £10m or even £15m less. However, given a straight choice I suspect Arsenal will go for Willian on a free.

Eze. on 14:47 - Aug 4 with 2080 views | QPR_John | I don't know but other clubs seem to sell players for more than we do. Maybe their players are better than ours in which case we have a long way to go if our only way forward is buy cheap/sell high and/or find a rough diamond to polish. Also our hands are tied because we keep being left in the position of players not renewing their contracts. Austin did not want to sign a contract as is the case with BOS and Manning. Whatever the reason we don't get the fees for our players other clubs seem to.
Eze. on 15:14 - Aug 4 with 2025 views | kensalriser | Without some chunky data behind this assertion, it’s just a perception. How many champ players go for big money every season? Two or three? Also, until very recently the club strategy was not to acquire young players to develop and sell. When you’re taking on first team players on frees and/or past their peak and paying them high wages they’re unlikely to increase in value.

Eze. on 16:33 - Aug 4 with 1882 views | bosh67 | I am a little disturbed to say that we have 'slashed' the value of Eze by 20%. Based on what? The club has made it pretty clear that it isn't worth picking up the phone unless the words '£20 million or more' comes out the other end.

Eze. on 17:47 - Aug 4 with 1673 views | Antti_Heinola | Bee pointed out many times, but a year ago, both Manning and BOS effectively had 2 years left on their deals, and both were far from regular first teamers. they were both then offered new deals before Christmas and beyond. I'm really not sure what else the club could have done other than emply Russell Grant? Are we saying all players should have at least 2 years left on their contracts at all times in case they suddenly become valuable commodities? If Shodipo has 2 years left now, should we quickly give him another year in case he has a Bright-type breakthrough?

Eze. on 18:45 - Aug 4 with 1523 views | danehoop | I think what that lawyer has pointed out is that the current immigration rules do not directly address the issue of European footballers post Brexit (not unlike quite a lot of the situation for EU nationals in any category under current immigration rules). Given the importance attached to the Premier League by the government, both as a revenue earner and as a "soft power" tool, it seems far more likely that there will be an adjustment to the Tier 2 category of the elite sports people and coaches. It will probably require agreement that the FA/Premier League/EFL become seen as a sponsoring organisation - but from experience that would hardly be a particularly difficult hurdle to achieve. They do point out the very specific issue of recruitment of youth players, which has a very specific EU category added. It will be an interesting time to see how that is addressed. There is a very fundamental question here about issues around recruitment of young players and how clubs have approached it, and getting it wrong has hot quite a fewer of the larger European clubs quite hard. So will it put clubs at a significant disadvantage to their EU counterparts? Quite possibly, but there again it will also put much greater emphasis on developing home grown youth products through academies, rather than stealing them from smaller European clubs. We already know how that has started to play out here, with Premier leagues trying to alter the rules to allow them to cheat League clubs of players for much smaller funds. That is likely to accelerate post Brexit as the gene pool available suddenly becomes smaller. Just to be clear, I don't necessarily disagree with what the lawyer is saying, but if you are an immigration lawyer specialising in handling immigration cases looking to sell their services to rich football clubs, you aren't likely to say, actually this should be relatively straightforward to resolve.
