Winston Churchill was all for an United States of Europe. Quote 'Hard as it is to say it now..I look forward to a United States of Europe in which the barriers between nations will be greatly minimised and unrestricted travel will be possible'

Good Morning Marcus. What's the weather like where you are ? Must be great waking with the sun every day. You didn't say exactly where you had moved to. Would love to do the same one day.
“Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously'
I see little point in telling u exactly where I am as like so many on here, likely I will be called Walter mitty etc. It is not always sunny but always hot. Love the atmosphere and pace of life. Not sure yet where I will end up living though.
You're nothing but a lot of talk n'a' badge.

For all the incessant bleating from the bitter Remainers what must be remembered is historical precedent. The last time we left Europe was when Henry VIII cut ties with the Catholic Church. For several years after the break remainer traitors clung to the past (as I’m sure they will now) but ultimately leaving did us the world of good.
Henry VIII then proceeded to plunder the land and destroy most of our great buildings. He used the fact that the Pope hadn't granted him a divorce as an excuse to rob just about everyone in the country. You can still see the ruins dotted across the country.
The church had been the only support of the poor and by plundering them, Henry alienated much of the population, especially in the north of England, leading to the Great Northern Rising.
The money Henry stole was largely frittered away on stuffing his own face and vanity projects like the Mary Rose, which sank as soon as it tried to sail out of Portsmouth harbour.
Another misconception is that Henry left the Catholic church. He didn't. He remained a Roman Catholic until he died. He merely wished to express his anger that the Pope hadn't made him a special case and granted him a divorce. When he didn't get what he wanted, he threw his toys out of the pram and it was his own country which suffered the consequences.
Extreme nationalism tends to be counterproductive. In the 1930s The Daily Mail and its readers supported Adolf Hitler and Oswald Mosly. Who knows what the world would look like now if they had got their way. The fact that the Russians put so much time and money into trying to achieve Brexit indicates that they have learned more from history than the voters in the 2016 referendum had.
It's hard for many people today to understand that the politics of conflict has been so prevalent in history after we have had so many decades of peace in the EU but the Russians haven't forgotten. Conflict and xenophobia are well and truly on their way back.
What I feel sad about,Dirk is Brexit will lead to the break up of the United Kingdom. Brexit has given the SNP the perfect platform to go for a second referendum,Ireland won’t stay divided and I can see big troubles in both Scotland and Ireland .

The consequences. I suppose you could argue the Spanish Armada should have won the day, but it didn’t. Us leaving the Europe back then set us on course to become the greatest nation on earth.
Scotland couldn’t survive without us. All they’ve got is oil, but that’s running out and becoming increasingly redundant just as coal is. We are moving into the age of renewables. If they did become independent it would soon go wrong and who is going to subsidies them then?
They’ll be queueing up at the border begging us to let them in.
You have to remember who’s writing. He’s got no conviction about the historical argument. It’s just an excuse to get ‘remainder traitors’ into another post.
The bottom line is the people of this country voted to leave. The fact you choose to side with the EU and not with the people of this country is shameful.
I don’t think it does, and it’s only your option so not fact. The Scots would be voting for a border, and the Euro, and a withdrawal of the security of uk membership. No way can you say it’s a fact they’d vote for that,
If, 5 years after Brexit, Scotland remains a part of the UK and the UK remains united, that will be a brilliant outcome. I really hope you are right. But, on the evidence so far, that does not seem a likely outcome.
There has been ONE POLL where backing for independence has hit a record high of 50%. All the others ever conducted have been below 50%.
Therefore on the evidence so far what you are saying is nonsense. Yes there has been an increase in support, but nowhere near enough to make independence the likely outcome or the foregone conclusion you are painting it as.
Let's hope you are right because the UK is OUR country and it shouldn't be given away lightly, which to me appears to be the main thing Brexit is about to do.
And let's never forget that if it weren't for liberals like Churchill, this would have been our flag:
I’m not saying I am right, I’m merely pointing out that you are wrong. The evidence points to Scotland voting to stay in the Union. That’s the fact of it as things stand.
