Oldham Athletic 1 v 0 Salford City Papa John's Trophy Tuesday, 31st August 2021 Kick-off 19:00 |
RonisRs added 16:43 - Feb 10 I must say the writing is on the wall. The only way we have a chance is to take chances and play the rest of the season offensively, regardless of the results. At the moment we are relegated, thanks to MH's great vision. In a perverse way i am looking forward to us playing in the Championship, at least we should win a few more games, giving one the satisfactory feeling. Doughnut added 22:11 - Feb 10 I must say that I feel a tiny sense of relief, as this season and the last has taken its toll on me as a supporter. If this is us in the Premier league then bring on the Championship. Our premier league campaign has been an abortion from the off!! Hope we can off-load the dead weight now, as the inevitable is upon us, after this latest joke of a performance. I think we just have to face up to the fact that we support a crap side. If, by some unheard of miracle we managed to survive this season, it really would be a travesty, as we are probably the worst team in the Premiership. Harsh words, but enough is enough! How much more are we supposed to take?? If Ihave to see Michu's gob once more FFS!! Odds on we'll be mathematically down by Easter, so at least we won't have to endure the last few nail biters as we did at the end of last season. Hope the finances dont kill us, that's the real worry! geraldo added 01:00 - Feb 11 Looks to me like no difference - I was against JC but I feel Hill is no better - 2 points from 3 games is relegation form. Are we seeing " Emporers new clothes" as Flitcroft seems to be doing really well without Hill ? schatfield added 01:36 - Feb 11 Saints fan here - sorry to chip in on your site, but had a couple of comments. I watched the whole match and its easy to see whats wrong with your team. Confidence is first, as soon as you let in a goal the whole teams heads drop. 2nd, has he been injured? Zamora still looks quality. If he could play every week, it would be superb. 3rdly, sorry but Harry aint all that. He took us down and has a severe lack of tactics when you have been found out. No plan B. I dont mind QPR, but you guys must be worried at the amount of cash you have paid out on players if u go down... Dennick added 06:59 - Feb 11 League tables dont lie, we're a crap team and we showed how poor we really are at Swansea. We have not done well in any "winnable" game this year and I cant see any hope of that changing, we'll be playing at Griffen park next year by the looks of things. daveB added 15:58 - Feb 11 We were far too easy to play against, Swansea did their homework, realised we had no strikers so played a high line with the ball and without it so when we did get the ball we couldn't get out of our own half and were always giving it away. Poor team selection from Redknapp for this one, once he brought a striker on it was a different game but one we still lost jezemondo added 20:58 - Feb 17 As with every game, we convince ourselves that today will be different. We might lose but City will know they have been in a game. Within about 4 minutes it was obvious that we would not be able to compete. We needed to keep a clean sheet for at least the first 20 mins and work our way into the game, but it was men against boys. We didn't get close enough to them, gave the likes of Yaya Toure too much time to pick his passes coming forward, and we didn't make opportunities for ourself. Leeds have let Ross Barkley go back to Everton, Becchio go to Norwich, signed no-one who is going to make a difference, and the manager is winning no friends in the crowd with his tactics. We are a team who just try to stop the other teams playing, we are direct on the rare occasions we go forward, and have a very negative approach. If we come up against a team who pass the ball around with movement across the park, we have no answers. In my opinion, even though i don't necessarily agree with the fans who think Warnock should go, I think this game sees the writing on the wall for him. We were embarrasing today, much like at Barnsley a couple of weeks ago, and these performances hurt the fans who just will not accept them, and the clamour for change now rather than the end of the season is becoming deafening. As a foot note, I thought both sets of fans were terrific today. We sang a lot more than the City fans but they were up for the craic, well, I suppose winning so easily helps. jezemondo added 19:54 - Feb 23 Just got back from the match, frustration on the terraces as we couldn't do much with the posession web had. For the laST 20 MINS fans were wanting a change to the team up front, but I couldn't see anyone from the bench improving things. I thing Deouf has done well for us and holds the ball well, but today we had a bit more pace and attacked faster causing their defence problems, and bringing on Deouf would have slowed things down too much. On the whole a good performance, lacking a cutting edge and not too many clear cut chances. I think the players give their all but when it doesn't come off for them the last thing we need is criticism from the crowd. This affects the individual, the team and the whole club in such a negative way, and its getting worse. Web need to tart getting behind the team and management more. francisbowles added 20:00 - Feb 23 Pretty much as expected a professional approach from them, we were average and they were too strong for us. At least we avoided a heavy defeat. Run in starts next week! I'm not expecting but hoping that we can start to win. It was the most inept piece of refereeing I have ever seen. Constantly in the way and even headed the ball at one point. Vidic fouls his opponent every time before the ball gets to him and never gets penalised. Strange subs by Harry, firstly why did Zamora come out for 2nd half after the way he finished the first and all that has been said? Why swap Jenas for Granero who had been ok and looked the most likely to play a good ball in? Why take off Townsend when he had been the most successfull attacker? Remy looks class but we couldn't get him in the game. If we are due any luck he will stay fit and not be a waste of money. tsbains64 added 20:40 - Feb 23 The team got hyponotised by the Utd fans-what ever they were singing -it could not get the ball back!! We looked good in the second half but could not make many opportunities-we miss that cutting edge. Remy made a difference but the Utd defence nullified his play Good performances from Townsend,Granero and Traore Their first goal was a wonder goal but we could not capitilise when we were in the ascendancy Its going to be tough but we need to win next week
