slynch added 22:40 - Sep 28 Just watched highlights. ohsosharp you're spot-on. De Ridder bossed that game, could give Lallana and Punch a run for their money! Gazza like an extra man on the pitch, he's gonna get more assists than all the MF put together! We looked assured on the ball, confident in possession and had a decent grip on the game. Rodriguez had that great chance to put us 2-0 up as well. But then we failed to deal with a routine cross from Miralles, when Clyne was left two on one down our left hand side, and just like that Everton were level. Another soft goal. Then for the remainder of the half we were completely over-run by a rampant Everton. We lost control of the midfield and couldn't stop wave after wave of attacks. The second goal, Fellaini and Miralles were allowed to play through our midfield way too easy, and maybe a more switched on defender would've let Jelavic run offside instead of Fonte who went with him, played him onside and then never got close to him. The third goal was no surprise when it came as Everton were in complete ascendancy and they could've easily been up by more at half-time. In the 2nd half Saints were much better. They regained a grip on the game and created a few decent chances. If Ramirez had managed to put that dinked effort the right side of the post, after a fantastic ball from Lambert, then Saints might have been able to nick a draw. Mayuka again looked very useful when he came on, its just a shame he only got 10 minutes. He did really well for the chance he cut back to Ramirez on the edge of the box. Maybe he should start up front with Lambert v Fulham. He will cause problems for a lot of defences. Lallana struggled to make an impact throughout, and Ramirez needlessly and frustratingly gave the ball away 5 or 6 times in the 2nd half. Ward-Prowse did well for the majority, he has got a big future ahead. Overall, it was a dissapointing result. Saints did really well in the opening 20 minutes and had a good 2nd half, but got torn to shreds once Everton had equalised. There are still plenty of postives to take from the game . If Saints can stop conceeding soft goals, and regain control when the other team are on top, then the results will come. newgolddream added 00:30 - Oct 2 No end to the misery with yet another home defeat and red card. Hard to believe we are seven points worse off than last season already. One bright spot is the return of Taarabt and what a fantastic strike. All his 3 Premier League goals have been scored in London derbies. MelakaRanger added 00:39 - Oct 2 utterly awful Tony F has given everything Mark Hughes has asked for. Money, time, infrastructure Time for Hughes to deliver QPRNZ added 06:52 - Oct 2 Awful 1st half and terrible defending. Game looked totally different with Taraabt and Diakite who I thought also made a big difference despite his inevitable yellow cards!! Granero and Faurlin surprisingly poor in this game. probbo added 08:27 - Oct 2 I'm not living in the UK at present but caught the match on Sky. A woeful first half display and poor defending for both of the goals. Just looked like a bunch of individuals in the first 45. An improvement in the second half and a great goal by Tarbs. Diakite's sending off was just like his debut last season! Hughes has an abundance of talent at his disposal (probably too much) and needs to find a way to get them playing as a team and fast - but just 8 wins from 28 matches in charge is not a good stat by any standard. Disappointing too that we have so many injuries just six games in to the season. At least theres an international break after this weeks game at the Albion. antoknee64 added 09:23 - Oct 2 Well done Adel, eyes wide open MH. Bored with Onuoha,Park & SWP,we need creation and fight in our bellies.
