Would it be sensible to pay upwards of £3.2 million for Woodman or should we get another loan or put Mulder between the sticks?

https://newcastle.vitalfootball.co.uk/report-3-6m-rated-man-leaves-nufc-with-wai

One of the few position we can speculate about as some, all o none of the loans and out of contract players might stay.

Even if he was better than mulder, which i dont think he is, there is no way we would pay that much for him.

I'd give mulder a decent run as I think hes good enough for this level, ws also have benda as back up who apparently is doing well at swindon.

I can't imagine us paying £3m+ for anybody and I agree 100% about Mulder & Benda for next season, assuming they both want to stay of course.

Yes, he signed a one year extension before joining us.

Benda will be our goalkeeper next year and given the reports of his performances for Swindon, that's as it should be.

We'll get him for a lot less than that. 1 year left on a deal he was pretty much forced to sign.

Newcastle have no real plans for him, he wants to stay here, we want him, Win-Win

I’d go with that. Ifd also get the Swindon goalkeeping coach as he’s fvcking better than ours who’s trained Woodman not to leave his line.

Newcastle want Woodman to be their future #1 keeper. It will all depend on whether they'll have him as #2 next season. From what I've read he'll stay with Newcastle if he is given that backup job, but if not then he'll go.

Assuming we were willing to spend 3.2M (we won't), it wouldn't be too much to pay, but when you factor in that we have Benda, there'd be no point paying money to bring in competition.

Martin Dubravka signed a new 6 year deal in October. He will be Newcastle’s number one unless a bigger team comes calling.

If Woodman wants to play games, he’ll have to move.

I’d be amazed if we paid £3m for anyone. It’s austerity time.

I wouldn't sign him full stop, saved a couple of penalties but has let in several dubious goals, has probably cost us more points than he has earned us

Another clean sheet for Benda tonight. Stats suggest he was busy, too. Top of the league with a game in hand.

Mulder out of contract I'd expect him to step up to the mark. Money can be spent better elsewhere to strengthen the team.

As has been said, he has 1 year left on his contract, but even if that had been 5 months I believe Newcastle would have been able to claim compensation as he was an academy product.

I agree Mulder and Woodman seem to be on a similar level, but I think by not giving Mulder a single minute between the sticks in any competition, they've made it clear he has no future here. That is likely to be the case as long as Margetson is here I would imagine. It'll probably be Benda and some new signing in my opinion.

Spotrac website has Mulder’s wages coming in at £1m per year while Woodman is £156k a year or £3k a week. I can’t see Mulder being at the club next season, his contract is up in the summer and given that the club will be in its last season of parachute payments and facing life with an even lower turnover I think the likes of Woodman represent the future.

I'd go with Benda next year.

Now we are Chelsea's new loan boys, send us that Gilmour?! Quality in the middle of the park yesterday, He'll be in and around there team next year looking at that performance.

If the Swans want to play passing attractive football from the back we need a footballing goalkeeper, which is not him, if we wish to play percentage long ball and hit the spaces to run into he is the guy !

Depends if there is a plan for the club in terms of footballing identity, my assumption is that there is no plan and we will not pay money for hardly anyone especially a goal keeper, and especially 3m quid for a bang average one .
