Deadline day thread 16:25 - Jan 25 with 80089 views | Northernr | May as well try and keep all this together for the next week. Demebele withdrawn from Peterborough squad ahead of possible Bournemouth move. V good against us. Further reduces the possibility of them pulling their fingers out and relegating bloody Reading.

Deadline day thread on 13:17 - Jan 31 by Rs_Holy | reminds me of Newcastle all those years ago when the signing of Faustino Asprilla was going to win them the Prem... Many Newcastle fans now blame that signing for them NOT winning it. |
Older Man City fans feel the same about signing Rodney Marsh in 1972. They are convinced that gave Brian Clough his first championship.
Deadline day thread on 16:53 - Jan 31 with 4043 views | Stainrod | Is the deadline today also to loan players out to lower league clubs or does that stay open for longer? Thought we would have sent out several young/ fringe players. Maybe lack of progress there has hindered our ability to get someone in so far?

Kieffer Moore? Sounds like they’re planning for another season in the Championship.

The loans market ended on the same day in August, so I would assume that it does today.

Deadline day thread on 17:54 - Jan 31 with 2873 views | robith | We've all completed the chat on transfers re: budget, but I did just want to add the psychological element. IIRC one of the reasons for Warbz getting the boot at Brentford was him refusing new player signings in January, because he believed it would disrupt the harmony of the dressing room. While he was gone at the end of the season, the players did reward him by making the play offs. Even if we had money I'm not totally sure Warbz would even bring someone in

Maybe they don't actually want him to play, they just think someone that immobile could come in handy to lean against the tower?

Deadline day thread on 18:39 - Jan 31 with 2103 views | CiderwithRsie | I don't want to clog up the thread b y quoting Clive's 12.37 post, but apart from the fact that it's got to be right, I think the club has got it right. Make your choices in the summer, plonk down the cash, and give it a good go. Don't fanny about in January with players who have to be integrated into a winning team - January is for teams who are in the sh"t who need to twist, not stick. I think the Paterson thing is a cheeky bid below his value because he's unsettled, not because we need him now. What we also got right is that a lot of those players were not only here for the first game but had been here for months the year before (which is why I'm interested in Sanderson's loan coinciding with the expected summer departure of Barbet, though I take Davie's point about Wolves wanting to keep him.)
