If Newcastle aren't going to use him at all then any amount off the wage bill works for them. from what I can see he's on a 4 (!!!) year deal at Newcastle as well, they'll just be happy if someone wants him at the end of this loan spell |  |

He is a great pick up IMO a hard working player and lots of International experience too .Our forwards will love him once he starts driving balls into the box and he is not afraid to get stuck in .We are no longer a soft touch this year he will add to our steel |  | | |

However, they got relegated while still owing the vast majority of the money they "paid" for a lot of the big money signings they made in their latter Premier League seasons. Much of their first parachute payment and Ake sale went towards that.
There's been some insane stuff today. Insane. Forest, as usual, chief among it. You go from having so many strikers you can afford to ditch Loyal Taylor on Friday, who in turn you gave such a ridiculous deal he walked out on his previous club and relegated them not 16 months ago, to now paying £2m+ for a new striker today. He, himself, signed by Stoke from Bournemouth for anywhere up to £5m literally 5 months ago.

Feel it's almost like the Johansen loan of last season albeit he is a different player. 30 y/o, energetic and has the right type of experience for our current league position (gritty premier league / upper championship player) and contrary to a few on here I think he does bring something we don't currently have in midfield - fierce shot, quality set piece taker and directness. |  | | |

No. If they don't get promoted this season, next season will be the last season they'll get them. In 2015 they changed it from payments over four seasons to three seasons and only two seasons if a promoted team only spends a single season in the PL. |  |

I suspect that we will only be paying part of his salary & Newcastle will pay the difference. Personally, I can't see what extra he will bring to the team, but hopefully I'm wrong & I wish him all the best.
