Bartley Is Your Man Of The Match
Friday, 29th Aug 2014 06:49 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

Kyle Bartley was the player who took your votes to be named the Planet Swans man of the match for the Capital One Cup win over Rotherham at the Liberty.

Bartley rated an average 8 out of 10 by the fans who voted in this particular game and was the clear winner from both Jefferson Montero and Bafetimbi Gomis who both ended up with a rating of 7.4.

Bartley's award continues the defensive theme of Swans nominations this season with Ashley Williams (Man Utd) and Lucasz Fabianski (Burnley) winning the votes in the opening two games which you would suggest is unusual for a team that has won all three games but reflective of the fact that all three have been won by a one goal margin.

Bartley featured for the Swans in pre-season and started the last friendly against Villarreal at the Liberty prompting some belief that he would be ahead of Jordi Amat for a start in the first game of the season. However, Amat got the nod and since then Bartley has arguably fallen one lower in the pecking order thanks to the arrival of Federico Fernandez from Napoli.

The pressure is on him therefore when he gets the chance to prove what he can do and a man of the match award by the fans is a good indication that his form remains good and that he should never be ruled completely out of contention?

Other Swans players rating 7 or higher in the game were Jazz Richards, Dwight Tiendalli and another debutant Tom Carroll.

Overall the match was given a rating of 6.9 by the fans.
