Stats from the game : A completely different Swansea City
Sunday, 15th Sep 2024 10:50 by Jack Stats

The Swans most certainly limited their passing yesterday afternoon, passing up to fifty percent less than they normally do so. In fact by a small difference Norwich City had more of the ball. Let’s have a look at the match stats.

⚽️ First off the starting eleven for the swans and how we rated them.

The starting eleven was the side that won this game, they had passages of play that they really did impress. In the second half the Swans were more reserved, and definitely need another striker option up front to weigh in with match winning goals.

In defence there were a few squeaky moments, but this fixture will forever be remembered for that Ben Cabango last ditch tackle. Contract winning stuff.

Building from the back is where the Swans have been slow and frustrating this season. Now, these stats are completely different to what we have seen so far. The idea was to get the ball forwards quickly, press and disrupt the opposition. That worked in the first half. And earned the Swans the points. The slow build we have become used to wasn’t there, the ball was moving forwards and those 407 passes indicate this. That’s sometimes half the amount the Swans produce during a game. Evidence of a change of tactics and mindset.

It was a very even game, both sides could have scored goals, the Swans didn’t look as dangerous in the second half but still went flat out for the second goal. On another day this result could have gone to Norwich City easily. Another noticeable stat is crossing. Luke needs to work on this, especially with Ronald.

Overall ball possession again throws up stats that are unusual in the main for Swansea City. Passing accuracy from both sides was even and the visitors had the better of possession.

Thanks to FotMob for the stats and during the build up to this game to @GwynStato.
