Sometimes we just have to believe in Swansea City 09:05 - Apr 3 with 2281 views | SwansIndependent | Sometimes we just have to believe in Swansea City 3rd Apr 2022 09:01It wasn’t the most positive of run ins to a derby game that ended in a memorable 4-0 win yesterday. The faith maybe lost by some swans fans in Russell Martin’s vision for the club. The road at times this season has been a wobbly one that possibly required a little bit more faith in a young football managers dream. 0

Sometimes we just have to believe in Swansea City on 15:20 - Apr 3 by magicdaps10 | Yeah but the 2 points also 1.When we win its not because of Martin's style. 2.Martin is only willing to play 1 style. It blows those 2 points out the window because the 2 points above are rolled out. Its getting boring now and was something I was hoping that wasn't going to be rolled out yesterday or today. Martin will win games his way and he will lose them his way........we have to be atleast consistent. |
"Its getting boring now and was something I was hoping that wasn't going to be rolled out yesterday or today." Sorry, but you had your day of the Martin love in, but it is back to reality now. You may have got others to leave who opposed your position but it is not that easy. Yesterday the football was a lot better and the result outstanding and long may it continue.

I can assure you I have not got others to leave, who has left then out of interest? Reality and unrealistic are often muddled up in the wrong mind especially if they hold an agenda or grudge. Reality will certainly be different for Martin come next season and then you might see me posting differently if he doesn't push on to the level that is realistically expected.

perhaps but progress could have happened earlier...there were games earlier in the season where we adopted yesterdays style and won too

But surely that’s an indication of how much this young manager is taking onboard and introducing to the squad ?

Not much younger than Roberto when he took lover as manager...and Roberto had no prvious experience whilst RM had 1 and half seasons more managerial experience, Martin has had us play similarly to yesterday earlier in the season resulting in a win yet has reverted to his short passing possession retention style.....had he stuck with this things could be so much different.

Going up you mean ? That would be disastrous like it would have been had Sousa been successful.

Not going up but at least competing with the top 10....and why would promotion be so bad? Promotion brings cash and this squad has PL potential if properly managed

Sometimes we just have to believe in Swansea City on 19:22 - Apr 3 with 406 views | Fireboy2 | FFS there is nothing that stop people moaning. I can assure everyone on this board that the vast percentage of swans fans were behind RM even before yesterday's game. I don't give a flying f@#k what people say about cardiff, they are not a bad team, they have had a decent run, 10 pts out of 12, imo played the best I've seen us this season and I put it down to them having a two week rest. Now if we can get 3/4 decent RM type players next season we will be knocking on the door of the play offs as we will have a stronger squad, we have suffered poor form because of our run of games in a short space of time due to the postponed games because of covid.

And playing a different style.....less backwards and sideways passing......but folks cant see that and of course having won the derby all is well! Monk got the gig after beating Cardiff at home 3-0 look how that ended up

God knows how Martin's style gets goal if all he wants is to pass backwards and sideways! The passing you refer to is to pull the oppositions shape out of place and once achieved the pace, runs in behind and passing with intent comes into place. Vetch I am going to say it sorry but you really have got no clue about how this style actually works and are misreading the stats in comparison to how the style actually works. The more joy you get from knowing the style and making it work the more the possession percentage comes down and more shots at goal you get.

But alledegly the dismantling of our playing style.....My concern is that everyone is so hyped (including myself) over the derby win and the achievement of the double that our minds are clouded. Great win yesterday BUT we played differently to how we have for the majority of the season....If RM keeps to yesterdays style and tactics we will do well...He once again ditched obsession with possession......for a more direct attacking style he need to continue with that.

Im sorry Daps you have no clue about football. For the majority of this season we played tippy tappy possession in our defensive third. We have failed to pull the oppostion out of position a have lost far more games than we have won doing so, an ex pro and international once told me to watch the opposition more to see how we are doing...One example is Blackpool at home where the Blackpool back four were permanently camped on the halfway line as we were knocking the ball around in our half we failed to pull them out of any position we went ahead a s a result of Piroes individual skill and ended up saving a draw. Its all about opinions......but you are right...we scored 4 yesterday because we didnt go backwards and sideways we wnt forwards and sideways so you have answered your own question

We did play alot of sideways passing yesterday, the difference is yesterday's performance was on the back of a 14 day rest, I can assure you there were plenty of hairy moments on or near our box, the rest did the players a world of good, they were on their toes and as I've said before imo it was our best performance this season, the lads stepped up, we have eight games left, let's hope we can finish on a high.

You really don't get it do you!? Its just that easy to play the style week in week out with a group of players who have had little to no experience on playing it and expect it to be played from the off. Its not as easy as that and it was always going to be inconsistent in its building.......I will let you into a secret here, it will be hard to produce game after game even when it is totally instilled into the players. Its not professionals playing against a Saturday league team don't you know!

Yeah, Martin's style does produce goals and that is the answer. Martin was an ex pro and international, speak to him and he will explain a few things to you I am sure.

Which as I have said before is why not other manager is attempting to play that way As you say if this is the case we can never expect to progress...where are Brighton under the great manager Potter? Struggled to beat Norwich ... IF this style is going to be hard to replicate game after game why persevere with it? This has been said before keep digging a hole daps
