Dyer's Goal On Milestone Appearance

Nathan Dyer scored a goal on his 100th Premier League appearance for the Swans which - as you can imagine - gave him a double reason to celebrate especially as it was the only goal of the game that lifted the Swans into 2nd place in the Premier League table.

The winger sprinted clear of the Burnley defence in the first half to fire past the keeper and score the winning goal that maintained the Swans 100% record at the start of the season.

And the double delight today was added to the recent delight of his first born child two weeks ago making for a special time for Dyer as well as the Swans who have exceeded many expectations this season.

Dyer is currently enjoying his starting place in the side when many tipped him to lose it this season to new addition to the squad Jefferson Montero but to date the form of the long time serving winger is keeping the Ecuadorian on the bench.

Dyer's goal was his 15th in those 100 Premier League appearances which makes for an excellent return from the player who cost the Swans just £400,000 back in 2009.

"We wanted back-to-back wins and we achieved that so I'm pleased for everyone involved." said Dyer after the game

"You have to battle that bit harder when you face a team that plays a lot of long balls and that's what we did defensively - I thought the boys did really well.

"The work we are putting in in training in terms of what we are trying here is brilliant.

"Everything is set up and we're just trying to keep climbing and I'm more than confident that we'll get the points we need."

As with the Swans, Dyer's attention now turns to the Capital One Cup on Tuesday against Rotherham although I think this time around we will see the player on the bench for the start as Monk is likely to give other members of his squad a run out especially having used the same 14 players in both games so far this season.

A point gained for the Swans : Allen isn’t dead Baggies !
Just over 14,600 attended this game at the Swansea.com. Take away the visitors support and around 13,000 Swans fans were allegedly at this game. Season ticket holders are always included whether there or not and the ground look very bare. If there was eleven thousand home fans at this game I would have been surprised. That’s a good few thousand who have stayed away this afternoon. And well down to what we could have expected on the last Saturday before the majority return to work on Monday.
