Kuqi Emerges As Swans Target

The Swans are being linked with a move for striker Shefki Kuqi in the New Year

It is only a matter of days before the transfer window opens and the rumours can start once more but this one came in early with the Swans linked with a move for the veteran striker.

And whilst Huw Jenkins would not confirm the name of players he admitted that the Swans were looking for the type of striker that Kuqi could be described as "Paulo is looking for a big, strong centre-forward, there's no secret there

Kuqi is currently playing for German second-tier side TuS Koblenz after rejecting the chance to stay at Palace last summer.

The 58-cap star spent five seasons playing in Finland before joining Stockport County almost nine years ago.

Next came a stint at Wednesday before a move to Ipswich saw Kuqi shoot to prominence.

He struck 20 second-tier goals in 2004-05 to earn himself a chance in the Premier League with Blackburn, where he scored seven goals in one season.

A £2.5million switch to Palace followed in 2006 and Kuqi endured mixed fortunes at Selhurst Park.

He had another stint in the top flight on a four-month loan with Fulham in 2007 and a temporary spell back at Ipswich before winning over Neil Warnock last season, when he finished as Palace's top scorer.

But Kuqi rejected the offer of a new contract, leaving London to join younger brother Njazi at Koblenz.

Swansea City : Mental agility, toughness, commitment & desire needed this weekend
With the Hull City away game an early kick off this Saturday (12.30pm) MKM stadium the Swans have the usual slim selections to choose from. With Swans head coach, Luke Williams looking unlikely to dip into a form player from the U21 squad it’s very much as you were. By slim we pretty much mean what he had last week.
The absurdity of the EFL when it comes to Swans fixtures
Swansea City will travel on Friday to play Hull City in an early kick off the next day (12:30pm) at the MKM stadium. Hull are based within the East Riding of Yorkshire. The old medieval wool port with far better access since the building of the Humber bridge in 1981 has housed a football team since 1904.

Swans have no answers against Sunderland : Same issues for Luke
In another game of goals the Swans again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, and yes that age old term is being used far too often this season. Even when it comes to losing a point. Today however, all three were lost and the best team won the day.
