There really is a lot of sh1te being written about this released list. Firstly, I doubt, given his selections last season, JC rates Jordan, Twaddle, Holness and Grimes. I also doubt they will be anywhere near the first team come early August. I do suspect JC desperately wants rid.
So, what is JC/the club to do? Single them out personally in public and stick them on the transfer list with the labels lazy, not good enough, disruptive and/or wears stupid hats to Chinese restaurants. Brill, we all feel better for that. Then we have the difficult situation of actually getting rid of them. Please form an orderly queue for these bone-idle and disruptive layabouts.
Neither of these players have asked to be on the transfer list a la Adams because they are unlikely to get a better deal anywhere else - with the possible exception of Grimes.
It is in the best interests of the club to get them off the books. As all of them, bar possibly Grimes, have no value and are unlikely to get much interest from other clubs, it is likely the club/manager will have to be creative - loaning them
and player swaps etc. I've no doubt these players have been informally made available for transfer through their agents etc.
Either way, shouting from the rooftops that they are useless/disruptive is not going to help get shut of them and their being here is not JC's fault.
I know this doesn't apply to everyone but there seems to be some on this thread who don't understand the concept that you can't release a player who is under contract.
The released list was only going to be one aspect to the overhaul - not the project in itself. In fact, it's just started. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Ive had time to digest the list and now i think that JC as looked at it as follows.
He's been looking at certain players to come in and may have been knocked back rather than say you can go lads, and leave without any players in that particular position which would mean Dale struggle..
SE was an example of not signing the correct players and it got him the chop, we know some or near all where shite but i just wished the club didnt let him sign so many loanees.
Hopefully JC gets 5 players in on contract to improve the squad and 3 decent loanees. |  |

After a nights sleep im still disappointed that Widdowson has gone. However only releasing three isn't too bad when you look at the squad. We need to palm off two or three defenders. If you look at we dont have it seems we'll be signing a keeper, two full backs, at least one centre back, at least two attackive midfielder/wingers and at least one striker.
That makes it 7 new first team players which rings true with what Jimmy bell was saying on dale player.
