FIFA World Cup thread. 12:02 - Nov 15 with 138631 viewsSnipper

I’m trying to get excited about this World Cup, but to no avail :-((.

I’ve just watched Sky Sports World Cup preview with Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher & Karen Carney. Utterly depressing viewing. Same old, same old. Picking players for the starting XI not playing for their clubs, or totally off form.

I’m hoping this thread can get the juices flowing.

Do any of you think England have a chance?

One tournament too far for Belgium's aging golden generation.

Come on! 2-0!

Martinez will be resigning I assume?
How bad have Belguim been, lucky to beat Canada who dominated them and now losing to Morocco. The players he has at his disposal and they have been so poor.

They've been awful. Fair play to Morocco though - really deserved this. I am surprised he's still their manager - he's hardly overachieved as a manager, has he?

Thats a great finish! Go on the Ilias Chair Allstar XI

Wow, fantastic result for Morocco, really impressive. I'm just gutted Ilias hasn't had a chance, but you can see the quality they have on the pitch. Amazing Sabiri was a Huddersfield player!

Yalla, yalla.

A bit more composure from Canada and the Belgians would be heading home.

It did make me laugh when they were listing their previous two victories at a World Cup. Of course Scotland had to be one of them.

Well done Morocco, played some nice football, smashing 2nd goal.

Chair just visible on the pitch for a moment as Morocco celebrate after the final whistle

Delighted for Morocco, thoroughly deserved, and enjoyed seeing Illy celebrating at the end.

I was wondering how Robson-Kanu was so posh.

Loving that background information, top effort

I remember that France 98, Scotland were giving it the biggun about how they were going to qualify for thr Rof16 in a group that had Brazil, and Morrocco then gave them a thorough thrashing.

Things I’ve Been Wrong About #66448

Thought this WC would have been wrapped up by Qatar and the established nations, on the basis the bid was bent, dodgy media sources I’d read, and the investment Qatar has thrown in (assumed they’d want something back other than sport washing).

How wrong I was. Qatar out first and the favourites all struggling.

While the obvious ethical considerations remain this has been an incredible World Cup so far, and there has never been a better opportunity for a Greece style win for someone.

‘Big’ nations seem tired and uninspired. Perhaps times are finally changing and nations are now on a more equal footing.

France are the only country to have won two matches!

Perhaps Illias won't be playing against Burnley!

Morocco coach clearly knows what he's doing, but doesn't fancy Ilias.

He'll be getting 0 minutes at this tournament by the looks of it.

Despite the loss, I thought Youri Tielemans was immense. Would have had Chair on toast.

This Morocco side was quite physical which doesn’t suite Chair unless they give him a Taaraabt style free role which Amrabat sort of has.

Pele wasn't too shabby either ... and then before him there was Di Stefano, Puskas, Finney, Matthews.

Surely Johann Cruyff has to get a look in here?

Hope Ilias' form doesn't take a complete dive again like it did after AFCON.

Chair could have Tielemans barefooted

Croatia have been clinical. Be interesting to see how Canada develop over the next four years.

I must admit I don't pay enough attention to that Fulham Broadway lot to know that Kovacic plays for them. Disappointed to find that out because he's been far too much for the opposition around him at times today from what I've seen.

Germany losing but I can still see them qualifying on GD if they smash Costa Rica.
