Ash - from a friend of a friend. 08:08 - Aug 7 with 27158 viewsThornburyswan

No pictures or quotes to back it up but 'I know someone who is very friendly with Ash's family' & she has heard that Everton have offered to almost double his wages' & he sees it as his last significant contract - he has been looking at property up in the North West.

I guess we could offer him more money to stay but suspect if Everton get anywhere near £12M+ we'll move on - assuming Fed's fit looks like him & Amat to me @ Burnley.

After the grief they've given Ash for being
a) English and playing for Wales
b) Being English and Captain of Wales
c) playing for us for nearly all his senior career.

They'll never accept him...

Unless he slaps his head like a tw@.
Then they'll love him as a club legend

If you wake up breathing, thats a good start to your day and you'll make many thousands of people envious.

Yawn. This thread is rife with the nonsensical narrative that Ash is a baby or an egomaniac who needs to be the "biggest" player at the club. The only evidence of this over the years are mutterings from Jamie Moralee every summer and some apparently sulky body language.

He may well be an arse sometimes but he's also been a phenomenal player over the last four years without showing signs of real decline, despite his age. The flippancy over him leaving baffles me, especially as the supposed replacement Amat made a grand total of seven appearances during the whole of last season. Whilst he showed promise, there's still a huge question over whether he can step up for 30+ games.

Great post.
I might be in the minority but I wouldn't be selling Williams unless it was a silly offer of course.

Yes.

I don't get where this trust in Amat has come from. I'd be very worried.

Whilst I can understand anyone of us in a normally paid job moving in a heartbeat if another company offers to double your wages. If you are earning £60,000 a week say, for 2-3 years, what difference to your family's financial security would it make if you are offered, for example £100,000 a week ?

At the amount, I'd say, you are dealing with Monopoly money. You are a millionaire with enough in the bank account to live securely for the rest of your life. Yes, football is a short career, and you are a long time retired, but surely, money should not be a factor when you have been earning those figures for many years.

It is, of course, completely different and understandable, if someone wants a new challenge, and,of course, is just a job. If a player loses form, the club will show no loyalty and he'll be shown the door.

Either way, he's been a loyal servant and hope he's successful in whatever he decides to do.

Just so I got this right there are people on here saying Ash is irreplaceable?

Better hope he never gets injured or old then cos we're doomed if he does.
