No pictures or quotes to back it up but 'I know someone who is very friendly with Ash's family' & she has heard that Everton have offered to almost double his wages' & he sees it as his last significant contract - he has been looking at property up in the North West.

I guess we could offer him more money to stay but suspect if Everton get anywhere near £12M+ we'll move on - assuming Fed's fit looks like him & Amat to me @ Burnley.

No figures were mentioned but it was relayed as 'double' but IF we are paying Ash £70K pw then I can't see the toffees, even with their new owners, paying £140K.

My guess is it was his justifying the move or alternatively the clause that we all think his agent negotiated with us about him earning as much as our highest paid player doesn't exist.

We're not paying Ash £70k

He is/was one of the highest earners in terms of basic wage, but overall not on the kind of money Gomis and Ayew were getting due to their massive signing bonuses (which are always spread over the duration of the contracts when papers report wage figures these days).

tbf they can afford two players for the Stones money, and probably need two because Jagielka isn't getting any younger and Funes Mori isn't very good.

£18 million for who? I’ve never heard of this guy.

* checks wiki - "Koné followed this up with two goals against Everton on 11 May 2016" — sounds like they have the same scouting setup as us.

What - like a house that wasn't designed by a kid with an Etch-A-Sketch and furnished in Blackpool B&B 1972 style?

Fussy bugger!

My Mrs words were I don't like the house but its got nice views

Wages wise - and this is just my opinion - but if he does sign I can't see us paying him more than £70k p/w. Even that would make him our joint top earner (as it stands, if Lukaku signs his new deal that obviously wouldn't be the case)...

On the Kone stories (a bit like the Martins-Indi ones) I don't imagine that's in any way an alternative to Williams, but would be an additional signing.

Think Koeman wants two CBs in when Stones leaves, plus Jagielka (still our best defender but the injuries are becoming more frequent) and Funes-Mori (he fluctuates between been very good and very reckless. Lot's of positives but lots to work on still as well).
