Southampton are said to be chasing Grenada Striker Myrto Uzuni, but they have competition from Premier League Brentford as well as Leeds United in the chase for the 28 year old Albanian.
The latest player to be linked with a move to St Mary's is Myrto Uzuni according to sportwitness.co.uk who are reporting on stories appearing in Spain.
They say that a number of clubs including Brentford, leeds & Saints are chasing Uzuni who after a career in his home country of Albania, has arrived in Spain via Croatia and Hungary.
He signed for Grenada in January 2022 to hopefully fire them to safety in La Liga, they were ultimately relegated, but Uzuni stayed loyal and last season scored 23 goals with 5 assists in 38 games as Grenada won promotion back to La Liga.
He is mainly a left winger but can also operate as a striker and it would seem that if Nathan Tella does move to Germany, then they may well pursue the Albanian who has also won 31 caps for his country scoring 5 times.
The articles suggest that the fee Grenada would be looking for is £20 million or thereabouts, although Transfermarkt have it as nearer £7 million.
The report states that Galatasaray, Stade de Reims and an unnamed Saudi club have also registered interest in Uzuni. The player has a contract until 2026, which includes a €25m release clause.
It also claims that Grenada are not interested in selling, hence the release clause will need to be triggered should a buying club emerge.
Whilst there is always room for negotiation in a transfer deal, there is a big gap between what the player is worth and the release clause, so I don't see this one going ver y far.
