It's 600 metres long maximum. It's useless as a stronghold or military base, that's why there's no infrastructure and lighly defended. One missile could take it out. It's completely useless

The fact their ships are a 100 miles away is neither here or there. If the island forms part of their territory they get to extend their territorial waters. Have a look at a map of British territorial waters and look at the effect the Shetland Islands has on our waters.
