Russia invade Ukraine 14:17 - Dec 23 with 188981 views | Flynnidine_Zidownes | Discuss. Also why is Putin always described in the media as this rugged strongman? He’s barely five foot tall with his high heels on. But that’s another debate.

Russia invade Ukraine on 16:30 - Jun 18 by felixstowe_jack | Why the Russian have retreated from their main attacks around Kyev and are making painfully slow progress elsewhere. The Russian army is not big enough or well enough equipped to conquer and occupy the whole of Ukraine. |
And who told you that ? Let me guess, the bbc 😂

Will Russia invade Ukraine? on 09:31 - Dec 24 by KGriz16 | Is there a natural resource in the area they want to invade? What's making this all worth it for Putin & co..? |
https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/lseih/2020/07/01/there-is-no-ukraine-fact-checking-the-k Putin simply believes that Ukrainian land is Russian land. He's referred to Kyiv being the 'mother of all Russian cities'. Kyiv was a big city for 800 or so years before Moscow which was just a forest. Ukraine is vast with fertile soil, as someone else has mentioned. And obviously Putin has been quite clear that he wants all the Ukrainian land bordering the black sea. That's what gets me the most...is that there are many occasions that he drops the act about fearing NATO and just says what he wants, and still the useful idiots support his every move. What he really fears is Ukraine being strong enough to hold off any invasions. That's what it boils down to. The Kremlin lies so much that sometimes it forgets how obvious it is being. Of course then you get Lavrov appearing and saying openly they're not clean but not ashamed of that. Nothing but a gangster state of war criminals.

They went to Kyiv with 30k troops and tied down 100k Ukranians. Kyiv was never the target, the east was and they are grinding down the resistance and destroying the Ukrainian military with artillery. There is no time scale put on this. The Russian army hasn't committed vast numbers of troops, they have let their artillery do the damage. The units they have used, have been rotated and rested, something the Ukrainians haven't been able to do, because of their orders from above to dig in and defend to the last - It has been costly for them and was entirely the wrong tactics.Russia has the numbers and equipment to totally overrun the Ukraine, but i'm not sure that's their intention I think Putin's aim, is to totally destroy the Ukrainian military, and in doing so, to de Natzify the regime

Kiev was never the target but it succeeded in taking pressure of the DPR and LPR who were up (by that time) against a large invasion force mustered by Kiev to finish the Donbas once and for all (the real reason for the intervention by the Russian army on February 24th). It was a tactical master stroke by Russia.

Historically they were one people and Ukraine only came into existence in 1917 and was then swallowed up by the Soviet Union. Crimea was the site of Russian Naval bases since the 1700’s and what you would now call Ukrainians were part of it. Western Ukraine started out as part of the Polish Lithuanian Empire which explains their Roman Catholicism. He has no desire for Kiev - just the Donbas and the corridor to Crimea , then Kherson and Odessa.

There's no doubt he wanted Kyiv too, but their losses were too heavy. Officially they switched to wanting to take the East and then cut Ukraine off from the black sea (which unofficially Russian generals said would cause Ukraine to collapse as a country). Then you have Medvedev talking about Ukraine maybe not existing in two years and of course the psychopaths on state controlled Russian TV spouting their hate about Ukraine and its illegitimacy as a country each night. All of it is/should be indefensible to a person with any morals at all. [Post edited 18 Jun 2022 19:53]

Russia invade Ukraine on 12:41 - Jun 18 by controversial_jack | All the hero worship Zelensky has had from the west has gone to his head. He even wears military fatigues for interviews. He had a rating of 21% before this conflict. The Ukraine, has to swallow it's pride, cut it's losses and look for the best settlement it can get. It cannot defeat Russia |

Russia invade Ukraine on 10:29 - Jun 18 by Brynmill_Jack | A fraction of the size of your Pax Americanan myopia. Still the special operation is nearly done. I’m sure very shortly those war criminals who are indiscriminately shelling Donetsk civilians will either be captured or terminated. I hope they’re captured and sent to prison for 40 years. Repent in leisure. So do you agree with another poster’s reckoning (if we are going to behave like we are a fair society) - all the journalists who have incorrectly presented stories coming out from the Ukrainian government which has heightened your myopia should get a bullet too? Is this where democracy (and your much vaunted freedom of speech) has led you to? If that’s the case fascism has overtaken you. [Post edited 18 Jun 2022 10:34]

Your belief that the USA were the good guys in Syria and your refusal to take the entire Donbas/Crimea/ Ukrainian Situation in its correct context for two and your complete refusal to even countenance the Russians are telling the truth. Even after Ukraine was found to be lying about many things with regards the current stage of the conflicts. I find your hatred of Putin baffling - ok he’s no saint but jeez does that mean both Bushes, both Clintons, Biden and Obama who killed more people by drone than anyone else - they’re ok then. True aggressors who have decimated Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, Libya to name a few. Killing hundreds of thousands in the process. This is what Kennedy called Pax Americana - and his commitment to change this got him slaughtered in front of thousands in Dallas.

I hate Putin because he's killed innocent people. Completely innocent people and on a massive and ongoing scale. I'd hate anyone for doing the same. I think you're getting my views on the US confused with other people. By condoning the actions of Putin you're condoning the past actions of the US.

Historically one people? Eneyida, 1798 mate. Ethnically Slavic but not the same. If we're arguing about how long Ukraine has existed maybe its pertinent to point out that Russia became the USSR and has only been Russia since 1991. What kind of person can say that what the Ukraine has done in trying to defend their country is an invasion, Donbas is inside Ukraine as was Crimea, the Russians have invaded. Bringing what the USA and other Western powers into it in no way justifies what Russia has done. Across the world governments are utter shite, the people running our world are the ones causing all the trouble when most of us just want to live in peace, Bush X2 bad, Blair Bad, Putin...BAD.

Yeah but in fairness Ivan the Terrible, Peter the Great and Catherine the Great predate the Soviet Union by a fair bit and are synonymous with Russia. Catherine the Great set up the Black Sea ports in the Crimea don’t you know.

If their logic on Ukraine is anything to go by they'd be calling on the government to wave the white flag. Of course, in reality they wouldn't because when it's actually your home and not someone elses... I know quite a lot of Ukrainians. They detest Putin with a passion. For a long time they've wished he was dead. And yes I'm talking about ones from the East too.

Yes starting as very small enclave the Russian colonised large parts of Asia and Europe by conquests. They conquered all the larea that is now considered Russia plus another 14 countries which were deemed Soviet Socialist Republics . These 14 countries are now independent with the collapse of the Soviet empire.

And only Ukrainian from 1954 -1991 independent from 1991 to 1994 then forcibly reingested by Ukraine until 2014 . So 57 years under the Ukrainian yoke versus 171 years under Russia. Looks like the referendum to accede to Russia was a vote to return home by the large majority ethic Russian population. Hooray for freedom

My point was that your original post was patently false. Do you have an actual point that does not undermine your previous posts...cos if you are using history as your designator of rule/ownership then Putin and his cronied only run the Duchy? a tiny portion of Russia and Lithuania owns more of russia the Mongols most of russia... But you know, just keep posting BS.
