The election results thread 19:10 - Jun 8 with 57888 views | exiledclaseboy | Polls close 10pm. BBC, ITV and SKY release the results of their joint exit poll also at 10pm. Some of you may remember election night two years ago when the exit poll predicted a Tory win. It was roundly ridiculed by politicians of all parties and most us on here. You could see Professor John Curtice (who oversees the poll) visibly wilting and wondering if he'd just wrecked his career and reputation. The same Prof Curtice got progressively more smug as the night rolled on and it turned out his poll was more or less spot on. First result due about 11pm. From Sunderland. The outcome may be a foregone conclusion but it should be exciting for about an hour or so. Get it stickied for 24 hours or so please, mods. Oh, and can someone keep Perch and Bluey away from sharp objects please. Just in case.

The election results thread on 02:27 - Jun 9 by Uxbridge | Labour also gaining in Scotland. Not clear yet who will gain more. Bad night for Wee Jimmy though. |
It's a bad night for everyone but Corbyn. Farron could lose his seat along with Clegg. Robertson is gone. Rudd could be gone. Sturgeon has had her only policy - independence - destroyed.

With a PM with no authority and no mandate. It won't last six months and Brexit would be a shambles.

Indeed. Few seats either way and things could look very different.

It would be incredibly tough but not impossible. What's clear is lessons need to be learnt from this by a number of parties. Tories need to look to Davidson in Scotland imo.

The election results thread on 02:35 - Jun 9 with 1102 views | Highjack | This is fantastic. The odious SNP getting hoist on their own petard. Robertson and tasmina ceremoniously booted out. Clegg could go as could farron. The very decent Vince cable could be back. May will be hung on a gizzard for the sport of her own crows. Corbyn has done very very well but probably not well enough. Lots of lovely chaos ahead.

If that happens, then Brexit has to be delayed. Labour would rely on Corbyn catching lightning in a bottle for a second time and also the Tories being as woeful next time as they have been this. Neither is guaranteed.

Predictions are predictions. It's a case of having to make the best of it, really, isn't it? Personally feel like taking May and the strategists out the back and giving them damn good kicking.
