The election results thread 19:10 - Jun 8 with 57887 views | exiledclaseboy | Polls close 10pm. BBC, ITV and SKY release the results of their joint exit poll also at 10pm. Some of you may remember election night two years ago when the exit poll predicted a Tory win. It was roundly ridiculed by politicians of all parties and most us on here. You could see Professor John Curtice (who oversees the poll) visibly wilting and wondering if he'd just wrecked his career and reputation. The same Prof Curtice got progressively more smug as the night rolled on and it turned out his poll was more or less spot on. First result due about 11pm. From Sunderland. The outcome may be a foregone conclusion but it should be exciting for about an hour or so. Get it stickied for 24 hours or so please, mods. Oh, and can someone keep Perch and Bluey away from sharp objects please. Just in case.

My constituency is firmly Labour, has been for years. It's always been swayed by students voting who have no attachment to the area.

That's based on your hope for the areas not yet known. The areas where it is known are not supporting that.

Thanks for explaining statistics to me Is the Labour vote actually being underestimated by the exit poll? Indicators seem to be hinting at it.

You know what I mean. I've never seen any politician traduced by many many people on this board as Corbyn has been. I think it's absolutely fantastic that he campaingned magnificently and is now reaping the rewards. He deserves tremendous credit

Corbyn has rightly been slated over his record. Never finding a single anti-terrorism law he could back in 34 years? C'mon.... The young may have been mobilised - although as they get older that idealism may wear off - but it won't be anywhere near enough to get a majority. Given the woeful Tory campaign, the question would be if the Corbyn movement would have had the same effect against a better campaign. Is the voting pattern Corbyn related? Brexit related? Still a long way to go but it's one of the most baffling elections in decades.

Your post is a prime example of where the Tories screwed up. Making it all about attacking corbyn and having a complete hapless leader pretending to be something she's not.
