Very impressed with Bell today. My impression of him has always been a bit like Joey T. He's been a integral member of a successful side over the years, but he's always been something of a support rather than a lead. Can think of few occasions where he's been our best man and stood up to be counted like he did today.
Despite what I posted earlier, I'd like a few more runs in the morning to take the lead up to 320 plus, and then have a fifteen minute bowl at the Convicts before lunch.
Let's hope Broad simply says after "My emotions got the best of me"
Broad did right not to walk its the umpires job to give the decision. The Aussies put the umpire under intense pressure by appealing a ridiculous LBW and lost their right to appeal as a result.
There is no sympathy for Trott from the Aussies when he obviously wasnt out. Broad will be out to wrong decisions again during his career, he wont be recalled to the crease when that happens so why should he walk.
He should say "The umpires job is to make the decisions, its not up to me to do his job"
England batted very well today in difficult conditions.

Agreed TS, Broad has done nowt wrong. What made me chuckle was the Sky score thingy had already give him out.
You can`t blame the umpire, nor can you blame Broad, but once again sport has cocked up because the right decision wasn`t given through silly red tape. No different from goals not being awarded in football because goal line technology isn`t being used and tries being awarded in league because "you can`t rule on a forward pass". All we ask is that the right decision eventually happens, but the powers that be continually stick their heads in the sand and come up with silly boundaries that prevents this from happening. They always say,"Oh well, you win a few and lose a few",but that`s not good enough when we can all see that they`ve got it wrong (again) and it`s not the first one in this match. Still,it`s a fantastic game, test cricket will never die as long as the Ashes are being played for and we`ve got another four to go after this. Marvellous!!

I think you can blame the umpire, if I can see that it's hit the bat (can see the ball deviated before hitting Haddin's glove) in normal time on a 42inch TV, why can't Aleem Dar see it from 22 yards away?
Poor decision in my opinion.
If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor
Him who off youst to post on here, but got band and then joined the A&B boaurd. Anyhow, heard he's not been well lately, can any one shed some light on this??

If you were Cook and things went swimmingly tomorrow, when would you declare?
Me? As late as possible. Keep them in the field as long as possible, they loooked shagged tonight. If we are still batting at tea, carry on 15 minutes to give them no respite, 10 minute change over and 2 hours at em.

I'd carry on til about 2pm it then gives us one and a half days to get at them with Swann and Anderson

Well it`s just one of those things, those blokes stand through thousands of deliveries and I guess they will miss the obvious now and then, but because the Aussies had used their two tv appeals, the right decision didn`t happen when it should have. Same as the Trott decision, the same umpire didn`t give it out because he thought Trott had hit it on to his pads, but because the relevant camera wasn`t working, they had to give it out. The stumping was another anomaly,Agar clearly didn`t have his toe back behind the line,so it should`ve been out,how could they get that wrong? No doubt there`ll be a few more as the series goes on,let`s just hope the series doesn`t hinge on another glaring cock up because the great game of cricket doesn`t deserve that. Who the f*ck is Tazzy anyway?
As the Trott dismissal shows, you get enough bad decisions against you, so let the umpire do what the umpire is there to do.
The Aussie's have two reviews for such instances, but chose to waste one, with the worst review I have ever seen!
Michael Holding who was part of a bowling attack that went out to physically hurt batsmen, talking about the 'spirit of cricket' is a bit much!
On a side note, does anybody know if Tazzy is ok? I hope so, because for all his faults, he is harmless and a fellow Dale fan.
But that`s my argument, somebody decides you can only have two referrals. So what? The point is;let`s get it right if the umpire`s made a blunder, then there`s no bad taste in the mouth when the game is over and we can all say the best team won.

Referrals are in place to prevent the 'shocker' of a decision, but they are being used by bowling sides to prevent the batsmen getting the benefit of the doubt!
This is 'not in the spirit of the game' as much as not walking.
The last thing we want is an American football type game full of stoppages for cricket and football.
Everything thats been, has past. The answers in the looking glass!
