Cambridge- the carabao cup adventure starts here - match thread 22:42 - Aug 12 with 47387 viewsnumptydumpty

I think only ever started one match day thread

But have taken responsibility this season for our new found cup successes.

The cup run starts here.

Taylor Richards scores a 90th minute winner - an own goal - to set us on our merry way and few games later Richards gets cult hero status in being the beginning of the magic run towards Carabao Cup Final success !!!

Think we are very fortunate to be in the lead... they have hit the post, forced a very good save....

I think we have been awful since our goal

Any idea what's going on with the QPR+ audio stream, folks?

No Sinton, and I don't recognise the commentator at all.

It's Hubert Oily-Member. Normally commentator for the competitive knitting show 'Needles Of Fire' on Blaze. Known for his catchphrase 'You dropped a stitch, bitch!'

In short, no idea.

What has happened with some of our passing….

Great persistence from smyth there by the way but wouldn’t happen against better oppo

Smyth was tenacious there and got his just reward.

Considering he's supposed to be doing audio comms to people with no video streams, he's been awful: huge silences, doesn't call out enough names of players in possession, never describes where the ball is on the pitch and rarely describes the flow of the game.

This is our usual commentator and he sounds different to the fella I'm listening to.

We should never have employed that mime.

Alfie and EDB having words there. Alright lads, calm down. We've all had a drink.

Fair number of newbies. It'll take a few games for them to gel. We'll be fine.

Not quite sure how this as happened... being 2 up and not really doing a lot to deserve it, and in all honesty EDB should have given us a 3rd
But we are and think that should be enough. Some half decent performances if not spectacular Lloyd started off really lively and sort of dropped off a cliff.
Jesus is a class above Cambridge and Smyth as been our best player ... but even he as set the bar that high
Can only play and hopefully beat who is put in front of you.. but Saturday will be far far harder test
Get the 2nd half over with, without injury or fuss and be a decent night's work

Fawa got no comms but it does mean we get to hear the full range of mucky songs from the Rs. Apparently, West London is wonderful...

OK first half. Important that we don't over-egg it here with the two goal lead.

Need to keep the same team for 25 or 30 more minutes until the game is up.

Successful crosses showing up as 1 out of 5. That’s impressive for us.

Its all fine to be honest. New lads having a go, Lloyd looking decent, Varane too. All very comfortable. One very good Walsh save withstanding. We've seen too many of these games and they aren't usually like this

2 making their full debuts, a couple of youngsters, a still disinterested left back and 2-0 up.

Considering the make shift team, can't be surprised it looks disjointed.

Hopefully Bennie and Tuck (80s buddy movie) come on.

Been really pleased with Alfie Lloyd in this first half. Seems to be on Andersen's wavelength and has brought Paal and EDB into the game at different times. Hope he can make something happen in the second half.

Think it would be nice to give Smyth a lot more credit for that goal.

We don’t win many cup games and we are easily ahead in this one without having to play well.

Been a bit sloppy at times and the whole of the left side has been pretty poor tonight but 2 up at HT so can't complain too much

It's hard to pick out our new players TBH. The Fawa feed is pretty lo- res, difficult making out names and numbers on our shirts.
