The NHS is the seventh largest employer on the entire planet with an annual budget in excess of Ā£160bn. I cannot but laugh helplessly at people who think that it is any way underfunded or understaffed.
It is atrociously run in basically every capacity. Some responsibility lies with Labour, some with the Tories. It remains an obvious fact however that until the Great British Public accept that every single health requirement cannot be dealt with rapidly and completely by the NHS progress cannot be made on the subject.
An adult conversation needs to be had with regards to what we expect the NHS to deliver because the status quo is unsustainable.
Covid saw a considerable increase in the amount of cash pumped in to the NHS, however if we disregard the additional funding provided for Covid and concentrate on non the situation minus the Covid funding itās clear that spending on the NHS compares poorly to many countries. Spending per capita in the U.K. in 2020 was less than 50% of the corresponding spend in the USA, it was also 10% lower per person than spend across Western Europe (EU15 + EFTA) and the Anglosphere average. If we look at NHS spending as a proportion of GDP it has increased in comparisons to other countries over the last few years, but thatās because our productivity and GDP has declined in comparison to other countries.
We have less doctors and less nurses than many other countries, we also have less beds and less equipment than our 19 OECD peers. For example Japan has the highest number of 166 CT /MRI scanners per 1m population, the US is next with 85.4 per 1m population, Denmark are in 10th place with 40 MRI machines per 1m population, while we are 19th with 16.1 machines per 1m of the population.
On the plus side, we have less managers and spend less on admin, but then again that may be part of the reasons some of the NHSās outcomes are worse than outcomes in peer countries.
The data in the second paragraph implies that the NHS is underfunded in comparison to other health services.

Somebody once said that the Tories are lower than vermin, unfortunately modern Labour are not far behind them, Starmer is the worst for changing his mind like the wind since Ruth Davidson up in Scotland, who was known for it.
I know most don't follow politics closely but if past performance is anything to go by then don't believe a single policy Starmer proposes. He has no conviction he proposes what he thinks will win him votes then more often than not realises he is out of touch with the public and then does a complete 'u' turn.
Modern Labour are no friend of the working man, they represent the elites just like the Conservatives.

Can't be arsed to revisit the story now (don't want to waste my time on donuts on here) but Corbyn was said to have saved a historic local Jewish cemetery from the council who wanted to build on it years ago, the head of the council was a Jew as well (or was she head of planning at that time ?), a right wing Labour Jew who years later was one of the right wing Labour Jews that did a number on him.all the left wing Jewish people up there and in Labour loved him, interestingly it seemed to me the more educated ones seemed to love him lots.
The irony is that the cenetary he saved, the Synagogue themselves had sold it off.
I'd dispute your last 2 lines because very few Jewish people seemed to support him when it was all happening, I reckon that's more your opinion than fact. Unless you have evidence?
Hiring Chakrabarty to chair the inquiry that was called a whitewash by many in the Jewish community is an interesing twist though, don't you think? Specially after he got the result he wanted, she got a seat in the Lords.

Well it is understaffed, that's just a fact, it has a very long list of vacancies,
It is also true that it's very badly run, there is a lot of waste, savings to be made. Governments of the last 50 years all bear some blame in its demise as they bear the blame for the state of this country generally speaking.
British people need to start taking responsibility for their own health if ony because the NHS is practically unable to help them for years (waiting lists everywhere are longer) so unless they want to die young, look after themselves.
If you have kids who play sport you will have noticed that there are far fewer local football teams than used to be. I don't know about other sports but there's a lot of fairly inactive kids these days. being unfit, overweight, theywill start storing up health problems. Then add in junk food, maybe alcohol and drugs and there'll be even more strain on the NHS in years to come, if it hasn't collapsed by then.

Jewish Professor Annabelle Sreberny was the daughter of refugees from Nazi Germany
Her mother worked very closely with Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott in the 1970s
Keir Starmer expelled her from the Labour Party along with over 50 other Jewish members.pic.twitter.com/h4X5y8wVMo

Check out what this Jewish lady professor has to say, very interesting.
Unfortunately I think I read she died this year RIP.

Here is a beeb article that says "The group says the letter was signed by filmmaker Mike Leigh, writer Michael Rosen and author Gillian Slovo, as well as several academics and Walter Wolfgang, 93, who fled Nazi Germany as a child.", there is also a link to a Guardian article that says the names of the people that signed the letter, professor this, professor that and professor the other.
I read years ago that the majority of educated Jewish people were against a homeland created for the Jews (first world war time I believe), they thought they should integrate where they were around the World. Lots of educated ones in more modern times seem pro Corbyn and anti genocide, just what I've gleaned reading things over the years. I think the elites and some right wing Jewish people done a number on Corbyn and as a result left wing Jews were done for antisemitism and kicked out of the Labour party, you couldn't write it.

I have to say I agree with this, the working mans mainstream political party no longer exists . When you look at the front benches of both sides who considers any of them worthy of leading this country , I can't see one.

This is where we diverge I donāt recognise the ā working man ā narrative My grandad was a docker ,a real Labour man as he/ they had nothing ,ever. My side of the family had a few bib,as they say. It meant a live,y upbringing especially at Christmas when the Emva Cream and Advokaat came out

āWorking menā donāt really exist now. The factories are gone, the mines, the steel, the iron, the tin, the docks, the copper. All gone. Construction has pretty much completely been outsourced to foreign labourers via agency work.

Several of us on here have been saying for years that for the Uk to improve we need political change. I've lost track of the number of times I've said the Tories AND Labour are the problem.
I've even said the onky way for that change to happen is for us to fill Westminster with independent MP's because otherwise the people we need to fix the problem ARE the problem.
Starmer, I've called him wishy washy and I'm not keen on Rayner either. My more recent posts have said just because Labour are better than the tories it doesn't make them a good choice, just a lesser evil.

Correct. I agree with little, if anything that Tice says but he's bang on about political reform (no pun intended)

So why then does this term be spouted by politicians. Working man Working families is worse Almost as bad as ā ordinary peopleā Peopleā¦.wake the firk up.
I want to punch any politician that spouts this. Corbyn really gets off on this term. And he was from a ā working familyā

It is overstaffed and very inefficiently run it akways has been .
1,500,000 people work in NHS but only 500,000 are medical staff.
It needs root and branch reform but no party will admit to this as it would be an election loosers.
No other country in the World has copied our model of a free NHS for all.
All tourists, visitors etc should pay for their treatment. They should all travel insurance just like UK Citizens need to pay for their treatment abroad.
A large portion of those coming in are from Nigeria and India. They are coming to work in the NHS and care sector, both of which desperately need them. This is why the government constantly goes on about immigration whilst quietly issuing visas in huge numbers for people to come here.
Meanwhile, 1.5 million are registered unemployed and a staggering 23% of people aged 16 - 64 are not in employment and most of them are not seeking employment. Britain isnāt working and weāre relying more and more on immigrants to do the work. Hence 1.25 million visas issued last year.
The small boats is a separate issue and illegal immigration is very small beer in the overall immigration picture. (29000 out of 2,500,000)
1% come over in boats, yet thatās all we hear. People raging about asylum seekers, boats and hotels like Stradey, yet 99% of immigration is legal and encouraged. Bonkers.
The NHS should use its money more wisely & not just have money continually pumped into it.
It shouldnāt be a political football & should be controlled by cross parties (or make it non political)
Are people really afraid to say they want scroungers & people fuelled with hate of this country stopped from coming here? Iām happy to say that if they are here illegally they donāt get anything I pay taxes for.
I thinking shipping them anywhere is a great idea š
As someone stated above š illegals only account for 1% of immigrants. 99% of 2.5mil are brought in by the government for work etc.
Talk of Jeremy Corbyn standing as an independent candidate against Labour in the upcoming election, apparently Jeremy Corbyn is getting a donation from a group that backs 'Socialist' candidates. That tells you all you need to know, Labour are right wing imperalist capitalists, they are no longer friends of the working class.
I would love it if that happens. OH JEREMY CORBYN!!!! This could actually be his time. Until he gets assassinated.
But, unfortunately, completely unworkable in the real world.
A hard left Labour party gives you a Tory government. The Corbynistas are as much to blame for the current mess the country is in as Boris and his mates are. They gave them free reign.
Labour have moved to the middle ground where they will attract increased levels of support, wherever they sit on the political spectrum they will still be to the left of the Conservative Party.
The Labour Party of Jeremy Corbyn was to many people simply unelectable, Corbyn didnāt attract enough support and Labour were wiped out at the last GE. According to Einstein the definition of insanity āis doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different resultsā - quite simply Labour had to adapt or die, failure to do the former would result in the later.
The choice is a more right Labour which could be electable or a more left wing Labour which is unelectable which will mean you end up with a Conservative government.

Didnāt attract enough support? He nearly won the election! But then the next one got messed up by covid and starmer
I guess sizeable numbers of 'proffesional' people are leaving the country also, and I would not be surprised if a lot of them are U.K born and bred NHS employees. I don't know the stats, but I know of (albeit not G.P's) two youngsters who have left the U.K recentley.. ..Coastal Austrailia seems to be a very popular choice.
So its a case of foreign staff recruitment over here to replace British staff, because uncontrolled immigration numbers and intolerable conditions have caused them to leave in the first place.
To top that? Is a counry where it takes a day for an ambulance to turn up and where people are pulling their own teeth out with pliers a country that offers a bright future for the yougsters and their kids?
The more pressure and stress people are put under? The more likely they are to leave also. So something like a G.P shortage creates even more of a shortage, because even more G.P's leave, because they are left holding the fort in less and less numbers. Vicious circle stuff! Many are also going part time to lessen their workload, along with others going into private practice.
Yep. This country is not attractive any more, to young people, or even to oldies who are coming close to retirement.
I canāt wait to get out of here. My friend retired to Portugal and sheās never been so happy and healthy.
Starmer is currently on a tour of lower league football clubs because according to a senior Labour spokesman āwe want him to appear as a football loving ordinary blokeā.
Do these people think we are completely stupid or something?

As most can probably tell, I am not very clued up on actual politics.
I really donāt understand why it is so important to follow the parties. I mean, why is it always labour vs Tories, even though both are sh!t? Why, when an amazing candidate pops up, itās virtually impossible for him/her to win, unless they join one of the two main parties? Why donāt independents ever win?
Same with USA. Simple 2 party war every time. Even though they are both the same and both pathetic.
I have to say I agree with this, the working mans mainstream political party no longer exists . When you look at the front benches of both sides who considers any of them worthy of leading this country , I can't see one.
So what are the options from here? Why canāt we elect someone else?
