| Forum Thread | Mandelson to be next Ambassador to USA. at 09:06 20 Dec 2024
Looks like Mandelson is to be the Uk's ambassador to the USA. This despite twice having to resign from the Cabinet, first for an undisclosed loan to finance his mortgage and then in a "cash for passport " scandal. He is an ex EU commissioners and as such still receives a hefty pension from the EU. This looks like cronyism at its best. UK Ambassadors are usually career diplomats not former politicians. He will no doubt continue push his pro EU and anti Brexit views. |
| Forum Thread | Senedd petition new one to sign. at 20:51 4 Apr 2024
Another worthwhile petition to sign. " improve vital late night public transport infrastructure in South and South West Wales" The last train from Swansea heading East leaves around 22:30 pm which means people visiting entertainment venues cannot catch a train home unless the leave the venue early. Towards Carmarthen a train leaves Swansea at 22:25 with a later one at 00:08 The Welsh government, who run and own TfW should ensure they run later trains from Swansea, as of course they do from Cardiff. |
| Forum Thread | Welsh Government to take over the Running of South Wales Fire Service. at 15:57 6 Feb 2024
The senedd has appointed a quango to take over the running of the South Wales fire service . It will consist of a former leader of Newport Council, an ex Senedd Education Minister, a retired Chief Constable and a retired West Midlands fire chief. Sounds like jobs to help supplent their retirement pensions. No comments from the Senedd on how much this extra layer of bureaucracy is going to cost. |
| Forum Thread | Port Talbot Steel Works at 13:07 19 Jan 2024
Another huge blow for the Welsh economy. Looks like we are going to import new Steel from China and India. Both those countries Steel works are high polluters unlike Port Talbot which has far more pollution control. Add in the carbon footprint of shipping it here. Guess the only people to be pleased are the Greens and PC with their green policies |

A Russian rocket crashed on the moon today. The Russians claimed they had successfully destroyed all Ukrainian drones. The Ukrainians deny all responsibility. |
| Forum Thread | USA, UK, France and EU snub Russian victory day. at 11:59 9 May 2023
The USA, UK and France have snubbed the Russian victory day parade which celebrates the Allies victory of Hitler's Germany. Rather ironic as Russian is at war with Ukraine, which as part of USSR, had the highest percentage of war time casualties and made up 20% of the red army at the time. In another snub the EU President was visiting Kyiv today in support of Ukraine. The Moscow parade was a much scaled down version with 25% less soldiers, less military hardware, no modern tanks on display and no air flypast. It was also an hour shorter than usual The Russian people were banned from attending for the first time ever. Russian cited security issues and possible anti war protests as the reason for this. Most victory parades in other Russian cities were either cancelled or much curtailed with Russian again citing security issues, possible anti war demonstrations and a lack of military hardware and personnel. |

| Forum Thread | Black Friday panic. at 17:21 21 Nov 2021
Looks like the retailers are trying in induce a panic to boost sales in the run up to Black Friday. Hinting at possible shortages due to global supply chain problems. Following previous self induced shortage, loo rolls and petrol, will the public be gullible enough to rush to buy Black Friday " bargins ". Or will the public realise it is just a con to get them to buy overpriced goods which are often cheaper before and after Black Friday week. |
