World population - NON QPR 11:34 - Nov 6 with 9664 views | Deano19766 | As I see it, the sheer volume of human beings on this planet is pretty much the root cause of the majority of the problems this planet now experiences. I really feel a limit should be placed on the number of children a person can have, like what which was put in place in China. Most people are too self-interested to even consider entertaining such a policy.......so self-interested that they don't even care about the living conditions of their off spring i.e. as long as they satisfy their own needs of having loads of children then that is all that matters. Any thoughts?

World population - NON QPR on 13:47 - Nov 6 by gordanoR | Immature because if you honestly believe that people give a fk about each other then you have clearly not been around very long or led a very sheltered existence. Most people are cnts. Not all admittedly but most. |
OK fair enough. I agree that most people are cnts. I just find that a real shame and disappointing that people cannot see the bigger picture that's all. I don't think that is immature however. I guess the most likely alternative will be extinction at some point in the not too distant future then. That's a shame as it could be avoided with a bit of foresight and consideration. I just hope we don't take with us what is left of the other living things on this planet (most decimated already anyway by the mass of humanity) [Post edited 6 Nov 2014 14:00]

I would guess you are probably getting at jobless scroungers who bang out kids as a way of avoiding work & generating income rather than someone like myself but your post just irritated me as it was very opinionated. From my perspective I decided to move out family to a rural location as the town we were living was overpopulated. If I'm brutally honest I'm a bit of a cnt myself as I don't really give a fk about the vast majority of the people on the planet.

World population - NON QPR on 13:31 - Nov 6 by TheBlob | Then I ain't a-coming back. That reincarnation thing doesn't hold water on the face of it since there are more people alive now than have ever lived. Then you consider alternative realities and continua and it becomes a possibility. There may be a continuum where R's are the top club in Europe and you're married to Talylor Swift (but she turns out to be gay). And the Earth is not populated by ostriches. |
Not that I want to turn this into a reincarnation thread when people are enjoying themselves name-calling, but pretty sure it's all living things, not just humans. The alternative realities thing is interesting, but seems messy. Every second you'd have billions and billions of new worlds being created. Idea is fascinating though

World population - NON QPR on 13:42 - Nov 6 by Deano19766 | I am applying rational thought. Some people would agree it seems. It is the ones who disagree who are actually providing no rational explanation at all and are simply posting insults. That tells its own story. I was actually after some logical explanation from people of the opposite opinion, but seems that's very unlikely given the posts so far. Ah well. |

If you agree that most people are cnts then why are you so bothered about extinction of the human race?

OK. And I guess my point was this - Whilst I understand that the majority of people don't give a fcuk about anyone or anything else (which I personally find very disappointing), would it alter your opinion if you knew that, as a result of so many people not giving a fcuk, it may lead to your children having very difficult lives in the future?

I'm not bothered in fact. I am actually more bothered about the other creatures of this planet. But seeing as we are agreed that most people don't give a fcuk about anything else, the best way to raise the issue may be to highlight how it may also affect their descendants as that may be the only way to at least get them to consider the problem and its effects that's all [Post edited 6 Nov 2014 14:16]

I think had my family remained living in the rapidly growing town where we lived that my children would have encountered problems. That's why I took the decision for us all to move away. Pretty much exactly 2 years ago & we've never been happier. My personal solution as someone who doesn't give a fk about the vast majority was to move away from them.

I'm very much afraid that in the not too distant future that won't be an option. But yes,I did the same. But then I decided not to have any kids, partly for the sake of the planet, partly because they are noisy little bastards.

Unfortunately our village is now due to expand but we will still be on the outskirts. If it affects us even slightly then we will move again.

Yes,if things got too bad here as well I'd actually contemplate moving to Scotland. Yes,it could be that desperate.

World population - NON QPR on 14:56 - Nov 6 with 1085 views | hopphoops | Got to say I agree with Deano, and anyone denying it is on a wind-up. Without being too draconian, two kids per family worldwide and the equivalent of a carbon trading scheme ('Jaffa credits') would have some impact. It won't happen of course, and that's ok by me - i don't have kids and i'll be gone when it all bites. Bit of a shame for future generations though. The urge to make your tribe bigger is very strong. There was a documentary on population loss in Japan (Panorama maybe) a couple of years ago, looking at a town with perhaps a 10% population loss as a tragedy. No suggestion of scaling back and cleaning up after us as an option. One striking comment was that more nappies are sold in Japan for old people than for babies.

Child 2 & 3 arrived at the same time for us, should I give 1 back? It's so difficult to choose my favourite child though.

The thing is anyone denying it is not actually on a wind up unfortunately. They are deadly serious and actually really do believe that you are the mad one who should be sectioned. Nothing like self-interest to blind you to the truth. However, when they properly consider how it affects their children (the only other thing they actually give a fcuk about) it may just make them give at least some consideration to your opinion and the greater good!! Unlikely I guess, but you never know!! [Post edited 6 Nov 2014 15:14]
