This has been on play in my head all week. Loved it then, and love it now.

The drum solo in this is superb, love the way the song seamlessly resumes at the end of it.

Special meaning for me - my Dad chose this to play at his funeral as we bought him up the aisle for his last journey - he loved his drums

The sax probably takes centre stage, but the intro drums really gives the song the edge. Love it!

Whenever someone asks what is my dream band, Budgie always gets the drummer role and it is 100% down to this performance.

The director should be up in the Hague on charges for not focusing more on his drumming during this.

Everett Morton of the Beat. I believe the deal was he was a left hander not initially realising he was playing a kit set up for a right hander which emphasised the Jamaican off-beat thing but gave him his own style too. You hardly see him in this TOTP clip but it’s just such a joy anyway.

Absolutely love the Ants/ Bow Wow Wow inspired Burundi stuff. McLaren had a great yarn of how he happened upon the sound on his uppers sourcing music for porn films and hearing an African field record played at the wrong speed in the Bibliothèque nationale de France. Cmon Malc - Joni Mitchell 1975

And staying in France. Art Blakey. Nice!

And for all you pop pickers out there, here's a classic from way back in 1963...
