Not the drummer in a little-known pop group that had a few minor hits way back, but Hammersmith's parking payment system. It makes the Rs website look like a work of inspired genius. Anyone else (tried) using it ?
John Lewis have reinstated their old motto - Never Knowingly Undersold. Should be our fans' motto - QPR (est 1892) Never Knowlingly Undersold. Weeeelll, not often anyway.
Yes, the dreaded month is back, rivalled only by dry January. Mind you, I only drink twice a week these days - Monday to Thursday and Friday to Sunday.
As we approach another cock's-crow kick off time, as I mulled over my ale, it occured to me that if all this is a “success”, ie increased subs and ad revenue for Sky, we could be looking back at this season as the good old days when we still had some Sat 3pm kick offs. I'm an ex pipe and cigar smoker but jacked it in when Tony Blair banned smoking in pubs. Now talk of banning it in pub gardens. I know it's a health risk but so are many things. Smoking outside won't have a deleterious effect on other peoples' health and the pub trade has problems aplenty - any thoughts ?
Scientists have discovered water on Mars accordng to the Beeb. I said to the Guv in the Cow & Hedge, “there's more water up there than there is in your beer Ted”.
I bet this has come up in pub quizzes but a question in the Times general knowledge crossword today - one of six London Underground stations named after pubs (5,4) I haven't looked it up by I'm guessing Burnt Oak. What the other five are I don't know.
A week to go and no sign of the season ticket cards through the post. Why do they leave it so late given the creaky postal system. I think last year mine arrived with just 2 days to go.
