Well good luck Jimmy but I fear he will sink without trace at Sheff Utd, especially if they get promoted. He needed some time with us to bed in and I wish him well but I think he will struggle. Hope not, enjoyed him whilst he was with us.
Dunne is not a particularly a good player, he lacks a lot of natural ability. His best asset is his attitude towards the game and QPR in particular - it is immense for the Team & Club and the players, he would be massive around the dressing room. He is far from being a Premiership player and imho he will not play much Premiership football - he does not have the necessary talents.
If we get a bid in of around £2 million he will be out of the door. A shame but we would not be able to let that money go when his contract expires soon.
What I hope is the Club sorts it out 'one way or the other' today/tomorrow in order that we can get a decent RB into the Club before deadline (& we should already have players on the list to make bids for!!!). It should not be too difficult to ask Dunne what he wants to sign a new contract and if he doesn't commit or we cannot commit to his demands then he should be sold. Lets just sort it out FFS.
BTW, I really do not want him to leave.....more than any other player.......if he does leave then good luck to him, he is proper and life & work is about choices.

If only any negotiation were that easy.
If you have ever bought a house, you will know the dance.
Low-ball offer rejected, maybe a second offer rejected, but the third offer comes in, do you accept even though its less than you hoped for, fearing the buyer will walk away?
If the agent is any good he will be playing one club off against the other: "Well, we would have accepted x thousand a week, but now Sunderland have upped their offer to y thousand a week. Can you better it?" And so on.
Given where we are, the club don't have a massively strong hand because there is only one buyer and we can't let Jimmy walk for free in the summer.
Where the club were culpable IMHO is not getting him tied down much earlier, pre Sunderland interest, when Jimmy was waxing lyrical about his love of QPR, how it was his club, how he loved its Irish connection, London etc. Even if Marti didn't see him as part of his long-term Cruyffian future, it was clear after the second half of last season he was an asset of value.

Yes - Sheff Utd promotion this season not certain at all. Sheff Utd relegated next season with under 25pts if promoted - utterly certain.
Jimmy has been great for us and we will have some great memories, however he didn’t want to sign a new contract and has obviously been offered better wedge elsewhere, so that’s good for him. For us as a club his contract is up in a few months, so we have his wages off the books and have got money for him. Gives us a few days to find a long term replacement.

Depends on how much we were willing to offer him and how long the contract was ...I've a feeling we tried to low ball him .
AND WHEN I DREAM , I DREAM ABOUT YOU AND WHEN I SCREAM I SCREAM ABOUT YOU!!!!!
The risk with rejecting all offers is the 2M we get now rather than 0 in the Summer.
We are 150/1 for promotion with Sky Bet which says everything you need to know about our chances for the remainder of the season.
I know, and you're right, but for once, we have a slim chance plus we lose circa £2m a month anyway.
I do doubt we'll make it to the play-offs, however.
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
The truth is probably we offered him peanuts on a 2 year contract .
Not sure that's the truth. Probably offered him a good offer within our wage structure but Sheffield United can probably get close to doubling that. If we get £2million that's a good price for someone with only 6 months left. Horrible to see him go but teams up and down the country are having their better players pinched off them by teams higher up. It's the natural order of things.

Very true but a really horrible one to lose this player as it's more about the stability he gives on and off the pitch. Good luck to him but a huge loss for us.
No one knows if he was unwilling to sign a new contract or we didn’t offer him one .
We might never know but I’d like to think we have been trying for some time . But we’ve been here before haven’t we and I wonder if this is another player we let drift off without our own due diligence?
I understand why we’d take in and around the £2m mark and I understand why he’d jump at the chance of playing in the premier league at his age now . But I hope that this doesn’t disrupt us and as Clive mentions in his piece , we saw what happened to Hull a few seasons back .
What I do know is that he should be very thankful to Marti for changing his career round and giving the opportunity to play at right back which of course he too has grasped with both hands .
Sad that it comes to this but it’s football and we move on . I just hope we move on positively and it doesn’t affect us too much .

Play-offs? Get stuffed today and we'll all be worrying where our next 12 points are coming from, especially without Dunne and that fancy dan Soton loan in there instead

And why would we do that? Logically you offer your decent players a decent contract within the financial perimeters that exists for the club if you want them to stay. If they don’t sign then they will leave to get the wages they want whether we like it or not.
There was I believing that in spite of the contractual situation being identical, the narrative being spun was that Jimmy was different and seemingly a paragon of virtue. Paal and Kolli were in contrast, devoid of any such qualities attributed to Jimmy and perceived, by some, as pariahs.
It so transpires that they're all trying to get the best deal possible, whether that be with us or elsewhere, which is entirely understandable.
Forlorn hope, but it may be the case that the MC thought that he may not have been in the right frame of mind for today's game. Fanciful, I know.

The “fancy Dan Soton loan” won’t offer Dunne’s considerable threat at set pieces or his inspirational qualities on the pitch but I think he’s the best option we’ve got and should be pretty solid until we can hopefully bring a decent right back in at the end of the season.
At the end of the day he will get more money, maybe a promotion under his belt and possibly some premiership games. He’s not going to turn it down. But let’s be honest 18 months ago he was a bit part player, 3 months ago we would have said 5th choice centre back. Like most of the team he had a poor start. He has been sensational in the last few months as he was in the last few months of last season.
It’s a huge shame but it is what it is, FFP means we can’t hand out big contracts Willy nillly and not all at the same time. It’s why we do them in Jan.
