The election results thread 19:10 - Jun 8 with 59015 views | exiledclaseboy | Polls close 10pm. BBC, ITV and SKY release the results of their joint exit poll also at 10pm. Some of you may remember election night two years ago when the exit poll predicted a Tory win. It was roundly ridiculed by politicians of all parties and most us on here. You could see Professor John Curtice (who oversees the poll) visibly wilting and wondering if he'd just wrecked his career and reputation. The same Prof Curtice got progressively more smug as the night rolled on and it turned out his poll was more or less spot on. First result due about 11pm. From Sunderland. The outcome may be a foregone conclusion but it should be exciting for about an hour or so. Get it stickied for 24 hours or so please, mods. Oh, and can someone keep Perch and Bluey away from sharp objects please. Just in case.

They can all be as committed as they want. It won't happen in a meaningful way if the exits are right. Could be fascinating.

Well, yeah, but even though Labour committed to Brexit, the rest of Labours policies aren't something most Kippers would agree with.

Perhaps Juncker will tell both May and Corbyn "look, it's clearly a bit of a shambles over there, give us a ring when you've sorted yourselves out. Until then, we'll say no more about it."

I think Amber Rudd has been the best of the Tories this election (apart from Clarke but talking about ministers / cabinet). | | | | Login to get fewer ads

London was pretty much Remain. I'd not be surprised to see Tories lose a lot there.

In which case, it makes little sense they'd go for Corbyn's vision of Brexit.

Aren't you a committed brexiteer though brynnie? This result would be the worst of all worlds for that wouldn't it? I mean this would be perfect in my mind because of the Brexit impact.

Think you meant to type :- Perhaps Juncker will tell both May and Corbyn "look, it's clearly a bit of a shambles over there, give us a ring when you've sorted yourselves out. Until then, we'll say no more about it as long as you give us a couple of hundred billion.."

Think it just shows how much Brexit is impacting Paul. I genuinely think the reason this looks odd is the Brexit impact. The results from the North will be interesting to see. If I'm right the Tories will pick up there.

Doesn't look like any of the national polls are worth anything. Too much regional variance,
