2014/15 Player Review Morgan Schneiderlin

After his much expressed disappointment at not being allowed to join a big club or Tottenham Hotspur last summer how did Morgan Schneiderlin do for Saints ?

I didn't blame Morgan Schneiderlin for getting a little upset last summer when the club told him that they were not going to allow him a move, after all Schneiderlin must have felt that with the six years service he had given Saints, he deserved to be able to move to bigger and hopefully better things, certainly not many Saints fans would argue that in those terms he had a point given that Dejan Lovren appeared to be pandered to after only a year in Saints colours.

Certainly Schneiderlin put his grievances to one side and put in another good year for Saints, perhaps it wasn't as great as his previous year, but with 24(2) games and 4 goals under his belt for 2014/15 even after missing the final four through injury he was still the first name on the team sheet for the centre of midfield.

Perhaps he will be at Saints next season, but I doubt it and if he does go then I for one will wish him all the best with whatever club he should choose to got to.

Of course it would be hard to watch him play in another teams colours, but in these days when the behaviour of players like the aforementioned Lovren is more the norm, to get 7 season's service out of a player is a rareity in today's modern game.

Morgan deserves to play in the Champions league he has paid his dues at St Mary's and should be welcomed back each time he returns, yes he did have a little throwing of the toys out of his pram initially, but almost a year on we have been lucky to get another good season out of him and if he does go a transfer fee far far in excess of the £1.2 million that we paid back in 2008.
